What are the best options for a better shock ? Aftermarket options are not there so what are the bolt on options from other bikes ? if there is a thread dedicated to this let me know. Thx Chris
YSS, Nitron, and Penske have over the counter items but apparently with the Penske and Nitron you need to grind away some of your frame. Ohlins can be done by many Ohlins specialists and this was mentioned here. He used BG Motorsport in the UK. I think Hagon would also do a custom shock. I will go with an Ohlins or YSS for mine.
Nitron were previously producing a deeper clevis mount to avoid the frame clearance issue, through their Japanese factory. May still be available.
Thanks AC good to know. Might be able to get one without the huge tariff that is slugged on imports here. Oops, after seeing the prices, never going to happen.
The shock Nitron made for me not only has a longer clevis, but instead of a solid upper shock mount has one with a threaded height adjustable eye which gives more clearance between the centre of the upper mount and the shock body, and assists to negate potential fouling on the frame. When I corresponded with Guy Evans from Nitron UK, he suggested I contact Hiro in their Japanese workshop who had the specs for the shock - his email was shock@nitron.jp. Scott in the UK Nitron workshop was also helpful in suggesting the use of a different end cap with reservoir exiting the shock body at 90 degrees to either the left of right, negating potential issues with frame clearance / modification. Hope this might be of assistance if you wanted to contact them and hassle them a bit more.
Thanks for the extra info. Best to edit the email address so it is not clickable. Spambots will find that one.
