I have not been able to work on the bike this last month what with work and weather. The rain has been very heavy and long lasting here in the UK 'but the project will be carried on with as soon as conditions allow. I hoped to do some work on it yesterday but I was called into work on an urgent basis
    Still enjoying the site though

Don't get me wrong, EFI is wonderful idea, but if the underlying problem is that CB250RS carbs are overpriced and unavailable, the XL250 had a very similar engine, and the CB750A 750 Hondamatic used four Kheilin PD70 units side-by side (by side, by side) and it might be a lot less grief chasing down one of those units - only saying!

Take a look at the speeduino project, opensource system run on an EFI analytics (megasquirt) based coms code. Very cheap unit for the capability, and an awful lot of forum support. Looking at buying one for my zxr as soon as the bike budget allows!

I've been looking into the Rusefi system basically because of the up front cost of the ECU is minimal and the project has 7 years worth of momentum and numerous successes

For your throttle body and injector there's probably load available from current lineup which would be suitable

The little Honda was taken for a MOT today I am pleased to say she passed
Having said that the front caliper needs a bit of of tarting up
I have been looking for a replacement Does any one out their that they will sell to me here in the Uk
I just need to do a little tarting up on her I did change the handle bar to a flatter style That I now realise was a mistake and I will be putting the original back on
Nice revy motor that goes well I will fit the new sensor and meter it bin in its box for two years

Did you look any further into EFI'ing your 250RS?

I'm potentially looking into doing something similer as i've a CB250RS/XL250s engine to build up and i'm looking to EFI as a project.

Currently I've only got the ECU which is a Speeduino one. but my first steps are to put the motor back together and get it it running on the bench from a carb first just to make sure its a runner.

To be honest the 250 has been on hold for a no of years I did get an ultrasonic bath and cleaned out the carb It now works ok !
I would like to obtain a kit but so far they would cost as much as the bike is worth
Just had my eyes done Cataracts so all is on hold at the moment bike exhaust headers are ready prepared with a sensor port so just waiting on an affordable unit

Nice, I've not really progressed with mine either, been spending time getting the bandit running right which I think i need the carbs cleaned too, I think there's a guy who does them over near Huddersfield, so might have to have a ride out there and see him. Plus the cars been playing up so ended up spending a lot of time working through the car problems so weekends have been taken up with that.

Cost shouldnt be to too much hopefully. I've paid about 180 for the ecu, external pump should be about 30 quidish. It's just the trigger setup and the throttlebody which I'd probably look at a set of bodies off a litre bike so injector sizes should be about right, but then strip a single body off it for the 250. That should be about a 100 for the throttlebodies.

Trigger wheel would be either looking for a modern flywheel or utilise the balancer and fix a toothed trigger wheel on.

Either if I manage to progress I'll try to post details.

Good to hear you've been out, hopefully as you say this year will bring some nicer riding.

I enquired about this for my Yamaha SRX250 for the same reason. If you do find a way to do it I would be interested also. the US$500 may sound a lot but in my experience, just getting a good original carburetor is far more than that if you can even find one. The problem with rebuilding the carburetor is a problem in itself for one reason or another.

Any movement on the injection scene ? I would still like to try it on the Honda The bike has just been resprayed and re-registered She is now 40 years old tax and MOT free but looking better than she has in years
If I could get a plug and play system I would pay good money Thinking these things are now common place on Chineas bikes I would not expect to be paying overly much

I've installed an Ecotrons system. I thought it was good value for money but I had a number of difficulties setting it up. Most of the problems looking back had nothing to do with the Ecotrons system. Having said that I thought their support was crap. I now run a Link Atom ECU with the Ecotrons throttle bodies. Knowing what i have been through I suggest you simply purchase a carb something like what is in the link. I have a TM33 on my scooter(229cc highly modified) and it was easy to setup and runs like a charm. I have found MikuniOz VERY helpful. https://mikunioz.com/product-catego...-accellerator-pumps/tm33-carb/?v=13b249c5dfa9

Yeah, lots of problems with EcoTrons. Support issues is due to them not even producing their own system, but reselling generic system originally developed for scooters. And system itself isn't very robust and randomly loses its memory and wipes out settings.

If you really want EFI, LinkECU works well and has decent support. I think even better value is Microsquirt with huge user base and lots of help from their forums.

I have spent many hours looking re fuel injection and found nothing that represents value for money ! It seams to me I have missed the boat > Modern manufacturers are possibly looking at electric bikes now and perhaps do not see a big market in the 250 cc class petrol I do not believe that the world manufacturers are spending $1000 plus on production bikes injection systems at the moment
