Found this on FB Marketplace.. another nice little bike ruined.. I might have been more inclined to kind of like it if they hadnt cut the tail off the frame.. I mean, you are not allowed to doc the tails of Rottweilers, dobermans etc so this sort of rubbish should be banned as well.
Plus I am amazed at the price they feel they can charge because it is a "Cafe Racer"

A couple of rust spots in the tank, otherwise it looks pretty reasonable.

    1971 CB250 K3
    $4,850
    Stanthorpe, Queensland
    1971 Honda CB250K3

We purchased this bike 3 years ago and saved it from being turned into a cafe racer. It had an engine rebuild according to the previous owner. Upon getting it home we set to returning it to as close as stock as we could . Painted in a Volvo white colour the following was done

New rims , respoked with original hubs

Forks resealed and correct covers etc sorted.

New correct bars and levers, original switchgear.

    Seat retrimmed in tan vinyl

Correct front and rear guard sourced from US

New indicator and tail light lenses

    Regulator / Rectifier mod done

    new battery

    New mufflers

    carbs overhaules

New coils , leads & Plugs

    New air filters

Period correct Tyres in 90% tread

    New chain / sprockets

New Brake shoes front & Rear

    New rear shocks

    Tuned by Honda Specialist

    New Speedo and tacho cables

    Bad bits,

Couple of small chips in the paint,

Headlight shell has small piece cracked out and headlight ring a bit dinged up

The CB250 was the smaller brother to the 350 of the era, They sold more but the 350 only had 8 more horsepower than these . Hard to find a good 250 now as they have been turned into cafe racers or trackers.

This bike is not concourse but it is a good relaible classic and presents really well. , Last ride I did on it was the Inverell Restorers Rally , approx 175km ,

Currently on full qld rego to Jan 2019, Can provide RWC for Qld buyers or help with transport . Currently insured for $5750

Any questions please let me know

    Cheers

Lovely little bike.. although I would prefer to see it in the metal flake gold and without the Tan seat.. at least it has been saved from the Cafe Racer scene.

Not at all.. I remember I was using a Honda SL100 for my daily transport to work and back in 72 and I needed a decent bike to use for my license test (mine didnt have indicators and a few other minor defects) so I borrowed a reasonably new CB250 for the test... it was by far the best bike I had ridden at the time with smooth power, quite good handling and I just loved the metal flake gold paint.. made my little SL100 feel very sad indeed. Now I have a CB400 in the garage awaiting restoration and I would love to get a 71 CB250 as well.. I really dont like modern bikes.. so these 70's bikes will do me just fine :)

Yeah I had one as well.....then a 900 rolladoor ...then I traded up to a ducati 900ssd...now that was a fun bike to ride, I finally found out what handling was all about and the sound ahh the sound ;) ...Motorcycles should have a chain, carbs and be aircooled the rest is just personal preference...
Me I like cafe racer's, brats and trackers..yeah even bobbers. I like looking and thinking about the engineering or the lack there of and the outside the box thinking...yeah I dont like some stuff, but I can appreciate the work time and effort someone has put into their project....Rather than poo poo the attempt I try to offer an alternative and sometimes I hope guidance...meh Im me and to bloody old to give a .......... ;)

Geez @Wozza you had me right up to the last paragraph where you disgraced yourself... I could handle the Cafe Racers but Brats, Trackers and Bobbers??? Maybe they should be Bobbitts.. wasnt he the one who's wife cut off his junk??? :dance2:
