Attended the annual Inverell Motorcycle Restorers Rally last weekend. A good turnout as usual with a couple of interesting bikes. Early 1960's BMW 250 single. 1970's CB250 Nice 400/4 for Andych. Original 1976 CB360. New R3. VT250. Interesting mostly BSA with Honda trail bike forks and wheels with disc brakes, and a Harley 883 top end, Diahatsu car electric starter and Kubota tractor alternator (plus other bits I cannot remember) but runs sweet and goes hard too. This would be nice in my shed (so long as I didn't have to ride too far).
Excellent Murdo. VT250F looks average, but good to see one out and about. I think the BSA builder has been very "creative", but I can see why Grey thinks it's not great. BMW single would be fun to ride?
It just doesnt look right with the Honda Forks and disc brake...Just something doesnt look right about it.. You have to give the builder his due though... at least it is finished and running
Went again this year but rode my FT500 there and back. Some bike at the rally I hadn't seen before. 1929 250cc New Imperial Lovingly restored 1926 Indian Scout. Nice 250cc 'Elsie'. There were two of these MZ250 etz. And a Jawa 250. This Honda ST1100 and trailer set from the NRMA for electric cars that have wandered away from the city. Has a Honda generator mounted in the trailer charging through a converter to the car plug.
A petrol powered generator to charge an electric car , isnt it ironic Love the Elsie, she is georgeous A few Yamaha dealers have been painting up xsr900’s in the old rd250lc schemes to invoke the retro look, they look trick, need a side cover to pull off the look
Good roll up for the rally with over 300 bikes entered. Some I liked and some new ones. John Ingle has owned this bike from new. Yamaha DS6 250 from 1969. Yamaha RD350LC 1973 CB175 1967 CB72 Suzuki 250 Hustler Honda NSR250. This bloke admitted to having eight of these in a container at home. 1913 Triumph. Aermacchi (when owned by Harley Davidson) 350 1976 Suzuki GT250. And I liked this one, a TX750 Yamaha fitted with Honda 750/4 engine after the original blew up in 1975.
