Pinned FZR250 Add-ons / Aftermarket

    Is there any way to adapt an FZR 1000 fuel tank to the FZR 250 ? I'm looking to do a lot of touring on my 3LN3, and the bigger tank should give me at least another 5L over the stock tank. Should nearly be about another 100km of fuel range of this can be done

    @GreyImport I've never trusted attaching anything to the back of my bikes. If I'm carrying stuff with me, it's always in my big soccer bag that I wear on my back when I ride

    If you were going to go to that much trouble for a couple of extra litres then why wouldn't you make the top flat to fit your tank bag?:idk:

    I've got no experience welding and very little experience with an angle grinder.

    I suppose I could get a couple of those MSR drink bottles and Chuck them in a tank bag... If my dad still has his old tank bag

    Has anyone tried adapting a steering damper to a 3LN that has a triple clamp brace ?

    They would be good to use on the 3LN drag bike as I dont want a front guard and a dampner would help keep it in a straight line ... ?

    A fork brace won't really make any difference with fitting a steering damper


    I don't think the fork brace in the link would do that much, it look's too flimsy

    I reckon you could make up something like this easy enough, get some aircraft alloy and use your old fender brace to get the pattern

    With a telescopic fork, lateral flex will work to compress the outside suspension more than the inside, something that a fork brace works against. As I recall Laurie, (Mr SuspensionSmith) measured this as part of his work on lateral suspension.
    Personally, I would be more interested in upgrading the 30 year old fork internals and rear suspension unit than worrying about braces.
    Regarding steering dampers, if the bike was throwing tank slappers all over the place then I would first try to identify why that is happening before thinking about the need to fit a steering damper. If that model is known for its head shaking antics then it would make sense, or if you are going to be riding it on horrible goat tracks that try and kill you then by all means.

    I was just going to just use the fender brace but that one in your pic looks the goods by far :thumb_ups:


    As much as the Fizz front end is woeful as in its suspension qualities , Ive always found it very stable out on the open road and at speed .... and with our crappy roads here in NSW thats saying something

    The only 'tank slapper' Ive had was on the Texas trip last time ... I must have missed seeing a pothole and hit it going pretty quick ... major head shake , felt like it was going to rip my arms off , but it did recover very quickly ..... either it was a good response due to the bike or my Marq Marquez skills shining thru :cool::D
