    The inspiration for the engine colour scheme came from the Honda RC166 and RA271 HONDAHALL RC166I-engine.JPG 1920px-Honda_RA271E_engine_Honda_Collection_Hall.jpg (1960's F1 car) engines.

    This is a tribute bike. It is not going to be a true replica.

    OK I apologize, the gold looks great anyway, I did not know that Honda used this colour on their race engines, good for you.

    I don't think it was paint but some sort of anodizing on the magnesium parts.

    Paint works fine. It is mostly hidden under the fairing anyway.

    Maybe a little later. Been distracted by work.
    My Tig welder decided not to cooperate either. So I had to fix it. A 6 cent diode and a lot of diagnostic time with bugger all information available (Chinese welder).
    Had to do a bit of rework on the frame, as when I started to weld it up fully, it pulled a fair bit.
    Needed a bit of straightening here and there.
    Hopefully, I will have the bulk of the frame fabrication completed by the end of June.

    Trying to sort out some of the finer details now.
    Does anyone know what size tube gets used for the front faring, instrument and screen subframe? I have seen photos of various arrangements. They all look similar. I am thinking either 12mm of 16mm tube diameter. Maybe with a wall section of 1.6mm. Possibly in steel but Aluminium might be a bit lighter (with slightly thicker wall for increased strength???).

    Looking at pictures I would guess at 16mm for the main frame holding the instruments/fairing and 12mm for the top screen.

    My thoughts also. I think I will mount a 19mm tube based socket on the front of the headstem. That way it will accept 16mm and smaller. I would like to fabricate the structure in front of the headstem in aluminium to keep the weight down.

    Possibly. The standard MC19/MC22 tubing that supports the upper part of the fairing and mirrors is 12mm steel. With a bit of smart design, I think I should be able to use 12mm aluminium. Theoretically, it will be supporting less weight.

    A bit more progress during the month.
    Concentrated on finalising the main parts of the frame and all the engine support hardware and controls.
    Next month I will look at sorting the drive to the rear wheel. Then on to the exhaust system.
    I have tried to use as much as possible from the Skyteam Ace and Honda CBR250 (MC19)

    I hunted around for ages to try and find a solution for the torturous path the top radiator hose has to take. Ended up finding that the bottom radiator hose from a Diahatsu Charade fits perfectly!!!

    Some details of the planned dash and fairing support frame plus the megaphones with the option of internal absorption wool.
    The front subframe will need a little more work to adapt to the fairing that I end up with.
