I think they are still illegal here in NSW Oz but I wouldnt ride with anything else ... except at night of course

I initially rode with a clear one and after a few hours I had a sun burnt face and its way too much glare out on the road

When Ive bought new helmets Ive just bought a few 'aftermarket' tinted visors

These fitted fine for my latest HJC

I've got a Transitions visor, they're a fair bit extra cash but it's always spot on. I've never had to think about it - clear at night and darkens quickly in the sun. One funny thing is that if the sun is to one side then one side of it'll be darker than the other!

German, Spanish, Italian, Belgian and even the French police don't seem to care if you have a visor darker than the 50% limit.
UK trading standards (local council busybodies) with the help of the police who always claim to be burdened with too much work will prosecute you with fines up to £1,000, and then prosecute the retailer, and then prosecute the wholesaler as well.
I've got a AGV K5 with a flip down inner tinted visor to try and get the best of both worlds
