    Yep slide carbs would be cool. I will start with the CVs and see where I get to.

    Those carby's Allen Millyard tried were Keihin PWK flatslide copy's, made by OKO Taiwan , but he couldn't get the bike running right with them so went to the Chinese Mikuni round slide copy's

    Looking very nice Mr JMW! Exhausts look very nice. With my 400/4 RC162 replica, I used Swarbrick pipes, who are the established company for Honda racers, but not cheap at over £750.00 per set.

    I'm now in the process of fitting my fairing - See enclosed photo. Hope to have it all finished within the next couple of months

    Hi Peter,
    For the 400/4 I sourced the fairing from a Czech company https://www.motoforzafairings.com. which with a screen and carriage came to approx £250.00. (The ACE CR93 fairing was from a UK company BBS plastics and was a similar price.) It is somewhat longer than the CR93 fairing though.

    Yes. I have looked at the Motoforza fairings. The one you have chosen for your 400/4 looks like a good option for me also. I have looked around Australia but have not been able to find anything as appropriate yet. Freight is the killer from Europe.

    yes, I appreciate that the carriage to Oz could be very expensive! - You will have to make your own!!

    Ha. Took me long enough just to make up the exhaust system. Trying to make a full fairing might take me a heap longer. I just want to get out and ride it now.

    Fully welded up one of megaphone exhaust assemblies today. 1.4kg for the header and reverse cone megaphone. So 4 should be 5.6kg. Not a lot of weight. Weight is inversely proportional to noise.

    If I could work out how to post a little video here, I could share the noise. When I tried, the system grumbled that the file was too large. Not sure what file size limits apply.

    My RC-162ACE sounds considerably different from a CBR. The video really does not convey how load it actually is.

    A followed up on a few Australian leads. None so far seem to have something that might fit. One was close but comes in 2 or 3 parts similar to a more modern fairing. The part line destroys the period look. I have few other options I am exploring. For the time being, i will just fit number boards to the front and sides of the rear and run it as a naked race bike.

    Trying to sort out tuning for the RC162-ACE now so that I do not have to do a lot of tuning at Broadford when I run this weekend (Sat 19th Oct).
    Running standard jets with open carbs is very lack luster as you start to open the throttle.
    Doesn't pull very well under load when you crack the throttle open.
    Thinking I might have to slow the rate of rise on the vacuum slides (acceleration enrichment) or just bump up the jet size.
    Any ideas????

    Without any kind of filter it's going to be very lean, my zeal was about 15-18:1 on the dyno without the air box on.

    I would try dropping the needles down one notch as a starting point, but a dyno and an experienced tuner will be your best bet

    Put a bigger set of mains in. Up from 85 to 98. Seems to be much better but not perfect. Should be able to fine tune at the track. Now I chasing an oil leak. Think it might be the seal behind the water pump.
