Hi all, I own a CBR250RR(MC22) and Decided to give the carbies a clean. I removed my Throttle Push/Pull cables, cleaned the carbs and re-seated the push/pull cables the way I found them. Now I have 0mm of free play when I twist the throttle. I've tried: Adjusting the cable tension at the throttle body, using the adjuster down at the carbs. Adjusting the adjuster up on the cable at the throttle handle bar. Making sure the Push/Pull cable is routed the correct way. Spraying some lube down the cables. I have snap back on the throttle, it's just as if the pull cable has shrunk as ridiculous as that sounds. Any idea how I could fix this to achieve the required free play of 2-6mm? Here are some photos of what its looking like at the moment: Cheers, MrSoap
Check the routing of the cables. Yours look to be set to maximum free play, so there is a problem somewhere. Check for an adjuster on the switchblock if there is one. Also check that your carb manifold clamps aren't interfering with the throttle mechanism.
No adjuster on the switchblock with this one. I'll take another look tomorrow and see if there is any interference with the throttle mechanism. Cheers for the reply. Thanks for the welcome
Welcome. Check also that the pull cable is properly fitted in the groove around the holder on the carbs.
Have you tried to adjust at the carby side? The bottom (push) cable can't be adjusted here, but the top (pull) can. Play with both nuts, and see if it get the extra mm you want. If the cable path wasn't straight, you the throttle wouldn't snap back, so it should be correct. You just need a bit more play.
Also worth checking that the cable sheath is seated correctly at the throttle end even if there is no adjustment there
Ended up playing with those two nuts again today and managed to get my 2mm of play this time. Thanks for the replies all. Not sure why I couldn't get any play yesterday, maybe It was the fact that I took the cables out again and re-seat them...no idea, but it's all good now.
