So I took the Spada for it's first big ride down south last weekend and just past Coledale the engine started cutting out so I pulled over and turned the tap to reserve but she wouldn't start back up.

Luckily for me, this really nice bloke who had this beautiful 65 Chevy Belair in the garage saw me broken down outside his place and grabbed a jerry can so I could put enough fuel in to get me to the closest petrol station.

Today I drained the tank and took the fuel tap off and noticed something missing...

Anyone know of where I can get the filter screen tube so I can get my reserve back? Or has anyone found a workaround replacement fuel tap for the Spada as I know that they're no longer available.

    cheers

Are the missing bits rattling around in the tank?
I have one of those Chinese VTR ones if you want it. Free, just pay postage.

Unfortunately the VTR uses a threaded connection to the tank and from the parts diagram Ive found of the spada one, the filter looks a lot different from others Ive seen.

yeah, I gave it a good shake but there was nothing left in there. Thanks for the offer Murdo, but I have a feeling the VTR one wont be any good.

Feel like a bit of a goose now. I ended up finding the filter but it was glued/jb welded inside the tank. It mustn't have been sealing properly and the fuel was just bypassing the filter and going straight through the petcock. It was missing the o ring so I will try and find another and give it a go cleaning all the crap off the filter and rebuilding it.

Hi Supanaut, how are you? did you end up finding a suitable replacement petock assembly for your tank? or have you sold the bike already and no longer have a problem?
