    Hi All,
I am new to this forum and have joined because I have just purchased a 1962 Yamaha YDS2, no doubt I will be asking lots of questions as I try to get the bike up and running.
The bike was last run 10 years ago and I have put new battery in and checked a few things but will try to start today.
    Thanks for letting me join.

if the battery goes flat one cylinder will drop out. when recharged cylinder comes back in, if crankshaft end seal cracks motor will rev like crazy and if motor has internal rattle most likely centre main bearing.should do 85mph.

    Hi Risky,
    Thanks for the info,
I have a few questions if that's ok?
    1. Is the fuel mixture 25:1
    2. what is best way to try and release the clutch as it will not disengage at the moment, I only picked the bike up 3 days ago after sitting for 10 years.
    3. What oil should I use for the gearbox, I know not to use friction modified but not sure what grade.
    4. What symptoms are their if the centre crank seal is worn?
    5. best place for any parts if needed
Will find out if the seal are worn when I start today! fingers crossed.

    Cheers
    Andy

25:1 two stroke oil not engine oil- outboard oil i found good as less carbon build up,clutch plates probably stuck together.or cable frozen, gearbox oil google specifications but think ?sae 30.centre crank seal if gone you will have sound of ball bearings rattling in sumpparts- no idea as i am going back to 67-68. long time ago when i was young lol.yds 3 to 5 most parts interchangeable except piston gudgeon hole needs to be reamed out.

    Hi Risky.
Found it 20 minutes from my place while looking at an old BSA, I did not know it was there but asked the guy what was under the cover and that appeared!! I new it was early as my first bike at 16 was a 1 year old Yamaha RD350 in 1975.
I normally collect BSA's and Norton's have a couple of Vespa's and other things but as this bike is original I was really excited to get it.
It is very hard these days to get bikes in original condition, it was only missing the rear taillight cover but I have already purchased a NOS cover and then I realised it meant to have a hand pump which will turn up one day.
It even had the tool roll and grease gun in the Correct Yamaha covers, so I am very pleased with the bike.
I have no idea what these bikes are worth but I did not pay a lot for it.
If I ever want to get rid of it I will contact you.
    Cheers
    Andy
