I cant remember what paint I used but yes it needs to be Caliper High Temp

The Brembo logos where just stickers off ebay .... not long after I did that I found out they are actually Nissin calipers on an FZR :lolsign:

Hey I'm just looking into the universal exup cable repair kit on the Venhill website.

Before I buy one I just want to be sure this will definitely do the trick.
Just worried about lengths and how adjustable it will be. The problem I'm having with mine atm is its too slack and the exup valve rattles, I did try tightening them but unfortunately the adjusting nuts on one side broke so had to tape it up, and also the one cable is about to snap.

Does this kit need the original sheeth(outer cable) to work or does it come complete with what I need. If it needs the original outer part that the cable runs in what are my options?

    Thanks in advance.

OK first thing - the EXUP cable needs some slack, but as your cable is kaput and due for replacement that is of no consequence.

The rattling is because of the worn bronze sleeve on the inside - unfortunately it's normal and something which I have been meaning to see if I can get replacements for - since forever.

I can't tell you specifically about the sheath, but you may be able to explain the broken adjuster nut to them and have them make a new portion of that sheath - they've got everything imaginable for replacement control cables

You may also be able to source another from someone on here

Okay thank you, I'll try source one from a guy here in NZ.
If I put tension on the cable the rattling stops, so does that slack need to be there.
The first time I heard it I thought it was a big end bearing...my heart sunk.

I've though horrible thoughts at the sound also from disintegrating gearbox to a conrod hammering itself to bits - I'd say the extra tension likely skewed it slightly in the exhaust collector.

I did use some high temperature copper grease which calms it for a while, but ultimately doesn't last - the only viable fix is new bronze bush

Venhill have a lot of universal cables. You can cut the outers and inners to the length you require. Which is what I would do. I have always used Tin-Silver solder for these which has a tensile strength about double that of normal lead based solder. Requires a propane or butane torch to melt though.

If it were me I would want to replace the outers also and I would not want the solderless nipples. But they have to cater to the market and most people want cheap. I have not bought EXUP cables from them in the past.

First item arrived, JIS. Screwdriver set. Still haven’t got the fuel pump yet even though it was meant to come from AUS and I ordered it before these. Brake seals, litetek carb seals, airbox, brake pistons, fairings, indicators on the way though. Can’t wait to get this on the road.

Thanks alot guys very helpful! I've managed to find some here in NZ just need to wait for this lockdown before I can pick them up, they're very similar to mine - am assuming they're off the 3LN opposed to my 2kr. The adjustable nuts on the one end are different but I have a feeling they'll fit right up.
Unfortunately I can't take mine off my bike atm as it's sitting at my 'other' house.
Haha yeah that last photo is alot shorter.

Here you can see the adjustable nuts are different to the above photo of the 3LN but I'm hopeful :) IMG_3480.JPG

@GreyImport can chime in to verify, but yes that's a mixed fleet Delo 400; it has a petrol specification, I've not seen the MGX, but reading up on it, it has less sulphated ash, which is a good thing and the DH2 specification meets requirements for diesel particulate filters and catalytic converters - not a concern for a motorbike

It actually looks like it might be a higher spec oil to the Delo 400 multigrade, which is I think the more commonly available one

I havnt seen that one before .. this is the one we have used in the past

As with most info on a forum , its just advisory or personal experience , especially something like oil recommendations .... the more research you do on these things , as ruckus has done above , the easier your decision will be

Thanks, I just can’t seem to find where to buy that one, if you knew somewhere that sold it would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know too much about oil specifications aside from the 15W-40 rating and I planned on taking you guys’ advice on using delo400. Just don’t want to put the wrong thing in and ruin the engine is all.
