I did some stuff, finally! Sand blasted the KX 250 frame a bit, but I think I might get the pros to do it, $200 to blast and powder coat - the paint might cost near as much. Turns out "damp blasting" doesn't work; wet or dry, but not in between - too much condensation in the cooling evening. Moved from there to CBR 400 carbies. Finished cleaning them and put them on the bike. Not installed, just on the bike, because they didn't want to slide on nicely.
The next project is building a house, so I guess I'll talk to you all next year...

You casually mention you are after a goldwing and a fellow member tells me he wants to sell this

bit pricey as one of the newcastle blokes bought a good one in from the states at around 5k. heard there was a cb1100r up in se qld and would pay more for that.

I bought myself a drz400 during the week , the guy left it outside and the plastics have faded and it looks like a dog had a nibble on them as well.

battery is flat, the handlebars have some rust on them and the throttle tube is stuck on the bar and won’t move. Hooked a battery up , put some fresh fuel and she fired up , I am looking forward to getting out on the trails on this one

    Make sure it stays running...

If it starts to die and not idle at all without choke, and gets very hot quickly, and stalls out, it'll be the mid body seal deteriorated and blocking up the idle passageway.

    That's replaceable, too.

Watch out for top gear, too many people in top gear at too low of a speed. Well, in some high mileage bikes.

Good score. I see it has the headlight cut off switch (for the bush) and a rack mount for you to go touring with.

Ha ha. I don't think Shane is a drinker, don't remember seeing him with a drink at get together.
He has often said he wanted to travel but didn't have a bike for doing it, now he has.

You're correct that I'm a non-drinker, but @Andych is correct that the bike is Chris's. I haven't had a bike on the road in months, and haven't bought one a longer time! Withdrawals have kicked in at times! I tried to buy a couple, but chose not to buy in the end - feels like a bikes anonymous testimony.

This weekend I decided I wouldn't work on a bike, been staring at bikes all week, so I needed a break. But I did end up fixing a mate's scooter - got to fit a tube tomorrow, though.

Installed a new lithium battery on my Daytona and went for a spin. Led indicator does 4 flashes; battery level below 13.1v

After all the trouble and headache with burnt stators and knackered r/r units I thought charging was fixed. Well mad.

Get home and plan out all tests I need to do. Ugh. Prob should check a few fuses first and yup turns out I blew one changing the battery
