Uhuh... I have a parcel coming from the US which was shipped from Utah on July 7th and arrived in LA on July 8th and spent until August 1st wandering around LA... (probably sight seeing as it went to Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and then Compton). It now shows as "in trasnsit to Destination Country" since 1st Aug so it is either on a ship or carrier pigeon.. either way I guess it will eventually get here... lucky I am not waiting on it to move onto the next step of the SL125...

Heh, heh... weird deals between shippers.

I ordered some Metallica memorabilia for my niece from outfit just across bay, maybe 60km north of me max. It was sent via US-Postal past me south by 100km to Oakland. Spent two days there. Then hopped on Fedex truck and was sent 150km north to Sacramento where it did loops for 3-days. Then was transferred back to US-Postal for return trip to me.

Overall, it traveled at least 300km to make simple 60km trip to me!!! Bizarre!!!

It seems to be how the big carriers are handling their route for non priority parcels. UPS now takes a parcel from Thailand, sends it to China, then India, then South Korea, then Thailand again, then the US, then back to Thailand, then who know where, and one day it shows up in Australia.

Yep, I have a shipment from Thailand with DHL that left Thailand last Saturday... arrived in Sydney on 11th and has been showing as "forwarded for delivery" since Thursday... still not delivered mind you lol
The good news is... my USA shipment that is still showing as "forwarded to Destination Country" by USPS was delivered on Friday... 2 weeks after it was sent from the Export Facility in LA...
Crazy... yep but at least they are getting here.

i have heard a rumour aus post are charging an extra $4 per package if you use your own box instead of their boxes, if it is true, I can see a protest coming.

I don't think that's the case. Auspost has flat rate boxes and satchels, and in some cases, they cost less than using your own box or satchel. Perhaps that's what cost an extra $4. I don't use their boxes because they are overpriced, but I do use their satchels in some cases. They are desperate to make some extra income on parcels since the drastic decline of quantity of letters we post these days.

Auspost would be making a record profit this year as would most freight/shipping companies that deal with the average person .... because people are staying home and/or not going out to shop during the current situation , its all online

Ive had the same GFE woman delivering my stuff for years ..... she told me they have put on 3 or 4 part timers to try to keep up but dont have enough vans/trucks for the local deliveries

The guy that dropped off my DHL box yesterday was a newbie ... u could tell he really had no idea what to do ..... it was a definate "signature required" , but he just said no dont worry and took off as quick as possible
