Hey Guys, I am just wondering what tyres are available for the GSX250, I have done some searches but it looks limited. I know you are supposed to stick with the recommended stated size from the manufacturer but can anything be done? I see the Pirelli City Demons are probably the best option but I would like something more sport like Does it effect handing etc if you put wider tyres on, any info would be awesome. Thanks
Wider, heavier tyres make your bike slower to turn, brake and accelerate. On the plus slide they should give a larger contact patch which is handy if you are having grip issues as you power slide out of corners. On a more serious note, it depends on the rim width. You can usually go up one size, and many owners do this to get a wider range of tyre options.
This is what I have found for the standard sizes I take it these are imperial sizes and I need to convert to metric right, the 18 is the 18" rim size Front Tyre 3.60-18 Rear Tyre 4.10-18
Everywhere I look gives u a different size .... what are the tyres on it now? 3.50-18 https://www.motorcycletyrewarehouse.com.au/350-18 4.10-18 https://www.motorcycletyrewarehouse.com.au/410-18
Not sure - I threw them away ha ha - I will check the rim tonight or dig out some old photos if I have them
It has J 18 X 1.85 on the rear rim (written on the rim) J 18 X 1.60 on the front rim (written on the rim)
My very old tyres on my GSX rims are rear 3.50 18 and this on the front https://www.motorcycletyrewarehouse.com.au/9090-18
Maybe contact motorcycle tyre warehouse with your tyre/rim specs and bike details and maybe they can find a 'set' for you
Ha ha I was just about to type that! I am going to call them - it all gets confusing when it comes to tyres!! Thanks for all the replies though guys
With all those unknowns just measure the width of the rims inside edge to inside edge. Most tyre manufactures have a table of sizes, in inches, and suitable wheel width.
Sorry back to tyres Guys!! Ha ha , I am thinking of getting these, they are both a size up on the width, anyone see any issues? Thanks as always
I have used them with no problems. Just check that you have enough clearance from chainguard, swingarm, etc.
Funny you bring up those tyre's , not long spoke to my old bike mechanic / tuner and he mentioned those Pirelli's are pretty good. Guess what's in my shed waiting to be fitted.
