Sorry to hear mate, glad you're on the mend! Sounds like it could've been a lot worse. I've been enjoying this thread until this update! Take it easy and heal properly before trying to do too much, good luck with physio/recovery.

Am able to shower myself now and can even clean my teeth in the sink when the back brace is off. Wounds have healed nicely without infection but still a lot of pain killers required to get any sleep. Little steps but on the right road. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes fellas. Things are mending but slowly. Have had to put off my return the Newcastle to see specialist for another two weeks to help with the healing (and pain) so it is still going to be a long road yet.
Have been reading a couple of motorcycle travel books and getting a twitch in my right wrist already. ;)

This is a really good watch .... I know they are on electric Harleys but even that is an interesting part of the storyline and the places they travel in South America are amazing ..... its only available on Apple TV I believe but I have it and can load it on a USB stick so u can watch it on your laptop if u like ... u may find it inspirational too as Charley Boorman had a couple of pretty serious accidents in the recent past before he did this trip

I also have the other older 2 trips on DVD if u want to borrow them also

Too big to upload so we can all watch it? Well, everyone except Blair...I believe he's allergic to electric bikes.

Ill see what I can do :D .... they also use 2 prototype electric "pickup trucks" as support vehicles ... even if u hate the electric vehicle thing it all adds to the challenges and problem solving of the whole adventure

It is certainly a good watch. To be honest the Harley Adventure electric bikes are not too bad, just sound horrid lol

Have been making slow progress, but progress just the same. Have the back and wrist braces off and all holes in my side have healed. Had an x ray yesterday and first time I had seen the rib repairs. Look like pieces of mechano tek screwed to the ribs. :D The surgeon did an excellent job.
When talking to my daughter last night she told me that the hospital had called her on the Monday afternoon to say 'get here quick', but I surprised her by surviving the night and was awake when she arrived on Tuesday morning. (I was not ready to go to the other side yet as too many bikes to ride.)
Shannon's insurance have payed out for the bike and my riding gear. :dance2:
Will just be taking it easy and waiting for the right time to roll one out of the shed for a quiet ride around the block. :)

That's great new's to hear buddy that all is going well with the " The Good Doctor " , even though you needed a Doctor yourself for repair's / rebuild.
Shannon's was pretty quick to payout , sound's like everything went smoothly then. I suppose when they pick up the damaged bike , you'll have more room for another. A early model Kawasaki GPZ 250 belt drive bike would be nice to see restored back to Murdo's perfection. Haven't seen this model since they where released back in the day's. Wondered what happened to them all.

a lesson for us all here, having ridden with murdo he is very careful, rides smoothly and watches the road ahead and in my opinion the last to have an accident. well he had one that was not his fault.we all need to be aware. i hope murdo can get a top notch solicitor and makes a claim for his injuries. money is not the panacea but future health bills need to be paid and when insurance companies pay out then they try to take preventative action. hope justice is served.

Bloke just wheeled it out onto tray and dropped on it's side. Looked at me watching and shrugged and said "can't damage it anymore". He then put a strap over the seat to tie it down. Will be on Manhiem auctions.

Hmm, don't think so but I do still have a ZZR250 engine and bits.
    Thanks John.
Having been riding for 45 yrs now and have done something around 8-900,000Km in that time, and this is only the second time in hospital in that time, I think I must be doing something right.
