Hey guys just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me before. Test fit my tank and there's a huge gap between the bottom of the tank and the frame, can fit my hand through it. Weird. Chucked on a spare tank and it sat much lower. Any ideas what this is about? My mind thought the worst, maybe my frame was bent up but once I chucked the other tank on and saw it was different I was stumped.
Hi Ed The bottom picture looks correct to me. With the top picture , is the base of the tank flat where the mounting brackets are fitted ?. I can't think for any other reason why the tank is sitting so high other than the base of the tank has issues.
Cheers for the measurement! Pulled the tank and had a look at the underside. The metal plate that is welded to the bottom that hold the locating/locking arms seems to have been pushed down making the tank sit up. I have no idea how this could have happened. I know the tank is dinged up but no major crash damage. If anything I would have guessed an impact to the tank would have compressed it down. Weird!
Probably been pressurised with compressed air to try and pop out a ding....I have seen them pop up the base like that or even spread in the centre underneath and the mounts not line up with the frame... more on old Honda tanks with a deep recess for the frame.
Yeah I thought maybe the loose tank rubbers had bunched up and made it site up but they were fine. I'll try pop the tank bottom back up, see how we go
Idk if it’ll make a huge difference to the air box but I’m thinking purchasing 4 cylindrical rubber and place them under each bolt about 4cm’s I got 5mm compressed ones now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You know I might get hard tube rubbers and a screw inside that’ll lift the tank upwards by an inch on each of the four holes at least that way I don’t have to worry about slacky threaded worn rubber Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@Cj Ryder The Zeal tank is nothing like the SRX tank... your post in this thread has no relevance...best to keep posts about your bike to your threads... much less confusion then.
My bad that’s true about tank placements and similarities I’m just saying adding adequate rubber to wherever any tank touches any frame is always good for placement Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
