    anyone used the gunson colour tune plug , is it worth the 130 odd dollars ,after the pros and cons info ... sounds like a easy way to do a mukuni conversion tuning etc but maybe sounds to easy???

    if it were that good, professional teams would be using it. spend the $130 on dyno time with a wideband

    Looks like a good idea for setting your air/fuel mixture right. I'd be interested to hear how it goes if you end up getting one. The engine isn't under load, so I doubt it will be effective for our high revving 250/4 bikes. As Beef said, a dyno is the only real way to check your setup and maximize it.

    agreed , dont think much good for race tuning etc , cant beat a dyno if one is near by or you can afford one , but wondering what it would be like for a close tune and not just for the high reving 4 cyd bikes but for the 2 and 1 cyd as well , find doing a cv to mukuni conversion can be fidlly and time consuming doing it without a dyno , a mate swears by them but hes been know to be wrong before (harley rider so??? mmm ) would really be intrested in any ideas from someone thats used them

    Another mechanic tried one in a shop I was working in. We all agreed it was useless and binned it.

    1 thing noticed no mention of hear range etc

    1937 Royal Enfield 250, CF Moto 250 V5, Honda's XL250, CBR250, FT500 plus a few others.
    I've had one for many years and would not recommend spending money to buy. They are ok to get a rough idle adjustment but useless for any high rev work. They also get very hot if used for more than a minute or two. I have been doing better tuning by ear and road.

    thanks murdo , thats what needed to hear , was worried about heat range so not surprised getting hot after a min or so , might save the money for other things
