Yamaha have done it again. Quick get your vomit bucket. Here is a 'sport bike' based on the Tenere twin engine and lots of pointy plastic bits. To top it off then named it the YZF-R7. If you are a youngling or have been living under a rock for 30 years, the reason that this pile of crap is so offensive is that the 1999 YZF-R7 was a WSBK homologation model. So here is the fake and here is the real R7
As I said on Yamaha Australia's facebook page, there is only one R7. That being the OW02 as pictured. What they call an R7 now is not even a proper R6 replacement (and there can never be one, really) - but the closest thing would be a '21 model MT09SP engine, electrics and suspension in an R6 frame.
That styling is awful, so unless there is a demonstrable, significant advantage in the wind resistance and slipstreaming- they should just STOP with the 'Transformer' look because it's no style at all
Love child of a grasshopper and a transformer toy. Shame they didn't have enough paint left to paint the side fairing.
Most modern bikes look like transformers ... the R7 just looks like another to me And using classic name tags is the current trend WTF has this got to do with the original "Trident" ? .... apart from being a triple Ugly squat piece of junk And speed triples look like a transformer on crack .... awful
I am going to out on a limb and say I like the styling , what I don't like in the use of the R7 name for a parallel twin, for me thats a commuter motor. The R7 is an iconic sports bike and will be talked about around camp fires in the same ilk as the RC30 , ZX7RR etc It is such a shame Yamaha cashed in on its success, but they have apparently presold a shedload of them in the USA. Just because your V6 Commodore has a spoiler, that doesnt make it a HSV
UH-OH, we're at risk of losing him, do we need to stage an intervention? I just don't understand the stylist's aversion to curves, everything is so disjointed and jagged and it's almost impossible to discern one bike from every other bike
Not loosing me , maybe a midlife crisis ... I should buy a Yamaha @GreyImport , that trident is a bloody shocker , WTF triumph ... what’s next ? Make up some crazy pipes and Release the x-75 hurricane?
Mid life crisis means whatever it is, it is supposed to be red, and I dunno why that is, it just is...Glad you're still with us, some silliness will be excused, but there are limits
