    Hello,
I would like to rewire my XS250 because the wiring is 44years old and some connectors are (very) bad. I have a wiring diagram, but I do not understand what the coil (red circle) does. On the bike, the wire for those coils go into the alternator cover, togheter with the AC wires. Could someone explain what this coil does and what it is for?
    Thanks, Andy

Does that bike come with a voltage monitor? My initial thought was pickup for ignition, but I think that's up and to the right from the circle.

The Green wire from the voltage regulator runs through that coil to ground (earth) so it may be an extra resistor for the regulator. I don't think the regulator would work properly if it was not connected.

Apparently I'm an idiot. The alternator is not a permanent magnet one, so this coil (called the field coil) is generating the magnetic field to generate power. And the regulator can regulate this field to make more or less power.

But I already have my next questions. I was looking for jets for the carb, to have something at hand if I want to adjust it (don't think I need to since everything except muffler is stock, but still...). But I can't find the correct pilot jets, the ones I need (N151.067) I only find in sizes 30 and up and my stock is a 20. I can find around 20 but only from the VM22's and those have bleed holes and do not work with the BS32 carb I have (or so I have read). Does anyone know where I could get some pilot jets?
    Thanks, Andy
