A few years ago I invested in a full set of JIS screwdrivers and impact bits. It’s honestly one of the best motorcycle tool purchases I’ve ever made. So many screws not mangled…
Where do I start. Took forks off and drained the oil. Will order new seals. Any suggestions from where????. Took bearings out of wheels, ordered new ones. Brake rotors (all) below spec. Need new ones. Any suggestion where???? Going to wash and paint wheels SATIN BLACK this weekend. Awaiting Shims, Tyres, etct etc etc. Hope eveyone has a good weekend.
Had a delivery yesterday from Delkevic... so out in the garage early and fitted it up... has a lovely sound. Its a little louder than the Remus right now but once it carbons up a little it should soften a bit. Now the lines look right.
You did a great job on the Sebring, kiffsta. Hope you got your money back with a bit extra for the next project.
Worked on my Honda RSA 250 front brake today fitted new caliper piston stainless steel new seals new pads new anti rattle spring new stainless steel locating pins To be honest not a great design and oh boy expensive But I suppose they would be for a 40 year old bike Just got to replace the choke cable and if it ever stops raining I can go for a ride I think I have spent just Under 100 uk pounds on the caliper parts alone Having said that I suppose that now they are all stainless parts rust and corrosion will be a thing of the past Trev
I have been on a 0.5 mile ride on the Honda today brakes now very good started very easily taught and easy to ride and very nimble All in all a pleasure just wish the weather would improve here in the UK I expect the Ausies thing we moan here in the uk but a bit of sun would be nice for a change Trev
I have decided to part ways with my beetle , it was never what I really wanted and after checking my cart contents on a specialist vw website , the bill was over $16000 and I still needed to paint it and rebuild the gearbox , tyres etc , so I have decided to offload a few things including the beetle . I have a mc22 that I will selling next week as well, this one is pretty special, I just received a photo from the painter , how good does this look, should be cleared on Saturday and I can pick it up on Sunday The reason I am selling off a heap of stuff is I really want an old fairlane , I am going to see this one on Sunday
I blamed my boss: The bike started and ran, but no, I had to pull it apart before riding it. If I wanted to work on a bike, there are a dozen others I already had! Carby needed cleaning, so I washed the airbox and subframe while I was there. And pulled the expansion chamber offer to check the, ummm, well there's a piston that goes up and down in there... No obvious concerns, so put it back together, started first kick! Next was to take it for a test ride. It turns I have forgotten how to ride an MX bike. Oh well, I guess I will just have practice more. Also redid the fork seal on the VFR - that happens when you reuse a fork seal.
Only gone and fixed my GSXR250 Carbs, runs sweet as a nut now bought an ultrasonic cleaner and stripped every single part out
Fork seals should be here soon, went out and bought some fork oil and my air filter has arrived as well at the local Kawasaki store.
Finally got around to sitting the CB400SF up on the bike stand, connected up the Gear Indicator to the ECU and programmed it going through the gears... no I have a working Gear indicator... only cost me about $25 from Ali Express too.. I was going to take a run out to the Hume Weir today but unfotunately Work got in the way. Weather isnt looking too good for next few days either... bummer.
Finally got the carbs on the MC19 sorted out. Threw them on and it ran on all four cylinders (yeah!) but it definitely wasn't right. Pulled the carbs back off and checked my work and found out that I set the pilot screws to 2 turns, not 2 1/2. Made all the difference in the world. Got them all synced up so now it's just a matter of putting the plastics back on. Not too shabby on the sync if I do say so myself.
