    Hi all,
So I am sure you have seen the brackets I have to fit the early 4-pot Nissin calipers to the MC22.
So here I will post about the little bits and pieces to make it all work.

    Calipers:
I bought NSR250 calipers off eBay (MC18 to MC21) but you can also source them from the VFR400 NC30. Mine needed overhauling but the pistons in the LH caliper were very good and the RH not so much. Caliper seal kits came from Powerhouse in the UK who sell on eBay (kits don't include bleed nipple o-rings though).

    Bits & Bolts:
The 12 point bolts I sell myself and the Ti bleed nipples and pin caps from Titan Classics in the UK. They also have Ti pistons so if my RH unit gives me any trouble I will fit those. The caliper pins and clips I had nickel plated. I will sort out the 8 bolts that hold the brackets to the fork and callipers to the bracket later.

    Pads:
I used EBC FA187, these are organic not sintered. Sintered have more bite, (which I don't want), cost more (which I don't want), are not as good in the wet (which I don't want), have less feel (which I don't want) and wear out your discs faster (which I don't want).

    Brake Lines & Brackets:
I am using HEL stainless line kit that is made for the NSR250 MC18, same bike that the donor calipers came off. I buy some of my Honda stuff from Rick Oliver (V4 Honda specialist) in the UK who is one of my customers and he sent me HEL instead of Venhill. The Venhill hoses come with the rubber support grommets and the HEL ones do not, but Rick has his own grommets so I will get some of those. My Honda had it's original front guard replaced with a piece of garbage and the original hose retaining brackets were nowhere to be found. Once I got a new guard, I looked around for the brackets but they are NLA, so I sourced some from another Honda that has a similar front guard, part No 45157-ML7-000.

    Master Cylinder:
Okay onto the master cylinder. My MC22 master cylinder has '1/2' on the underside so I pulled it apart and it does actually have a 1/2" piston. I don't trust my butchered bike so I checked with @kiffsta who sent this pic. Bottom line, you need to change it for a 14mm. That is what is used on the NSR250 MC18 and the VFR400.

My Hel bake line came with a rubber support grommet...I had it custom made as my bike isnt listed on the site..that said most honda's have split rubber ones which can be cut down to suit the thinner line

Sounds good Wozza but most of mine have deteriorated to the point of being rubbish anyway. New ones on the way.

Thanks Maelstrom, I am keen to do this. Do the Nissin four pot calipers require larger discs, or do they work on the standard discs found on the MC22?

Also, do you know of any good vendors to buy pistons etc. to rebuild the calipers? I am trying to factor in the possibility that all aspects of a pair of calipers will need replacement.

    Hi,
I have run out of brackets, but I picked up a set of NSR250 forks that take these calipers as standard and run the same size discs as the MC22, which answers your question. Anyway if you want to buy mine let me know. As for pistons etc.
Titan classics has TiN coated titanium versions https://titanclassics.com/ (don't buy Chinese versions)
and there is an eBay vendor in the UK who make stainless steel versions
also check the price of the OEM ones. Sometimes you get lucky.

Thanks maelstrom, that's helpful. Will you be getting more brackets in stock or have you stopped making them? If you're going to get more, I'm happy to wait, but if not, would be inclined to buy the ones off your bikes.

Fffff. I'd say put me on the list but until I'm done with this rebuild I'm not throwing any money at other parts.
