The work on the Across project continues. I've ordered and waiting on fork seals and dust caps. Getting ready to take forks out and noticed a problem with the lower leg on right fork. Damn Any Across experts know of a fork swap option or a right fork leg in need of adoption?
Expensive option , but Ive never seen a cheap set of forks for anything Look up the Suzuki part number and search it .... Im sure they will have been used on other models https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124881153547?hash=item1d137f2e0b:g:5x8AAOSwhWRhMCr-
Thanks GreyImport, I did check Australian Suzuki Parts List and only had the Across come up on the list. I might have to dig a bit deeper, the fork seals and dust caps were used in a heap of other models (e.g. GS500)
Try Megazip, CMSNL , Partzilla .... I think its those that list all the bikes the part fits https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/online-sites-for-parts-and-accessories.3736/
I did wonder about a welding fix. Google search results gave mixed views. Regardless, I figured cost of proper welding would be more than cost of replacement item from wreckers
Im no metallurgist and certainly not a welder but what are the fork lowers made of? .... magnesium alloy?
Yamaha website, but bounce around here for a bit in the various tabs https://global.yamaha-motor.com/business/cf/data/guide/ I'd bet dollars to donuts it's AC4C alloy according to Yamaha which is A356 FWIW magnesium is usually labelled in circumstances where it can be mistaken for an aluminium alloy
I'm not sure if these are the correct model(s) for the fork leg your after. Our Resident bike wrecker has a Across listed http://www.motorecycle.com.au/suzuki-wrecking/ https://www.facebook.com/HillsMotor...lready-have-been-sold-we-ha/3014218651995014/ http://www.gasgas.com.au/shop/DMCWshop/viewitem.php?productid=184 http://www.motorcyclewreckers.com/gsx250f-suzuki-gsx250f-1998-across
Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to weld that. I am sure @Murdo could do the same for yours Mr Grey, if you ask him nicely.
No problem at all , happy to assist. It's good fun chasing parts , it's amazing what's out there sitting on shelves collecting dust. Chris @ motorecycle is super helpfull , so hopefully he'll have the part your after.
