Toprak started the weekend 79 points back from the championship leader. Gap has reduced quite a bit. 7 rounds to go, so still plenty of time to take a second title on the trot. Rea firmly in the mix too. Off to the Czech Republic we go in 2 weeks.

Another weekend of motor racing aplenty. Toprak closing in on the leader in the WSBK championship. Redding unlucky to miss out on a 2nd place in race 1. Bautista doing enough to keep his lead.

Race 2 of the Supersports had all 5 manufacturers in the top 5 and Triumph made it onto the podium.

    upload_2022-8-1_9-23-56.png

The Supersport championship leader was banned from racing...weird stuff!

Pretty ordinary behaviour. Punishment fits the crime in this case me thinks.

WSBK in Barcelona this weekend. Hopefully, Rea can avoid taking out Bautista (like he did last round). Rea's championship seems to have stalled, so it looks like a two horse race, but Rea is relentless, so lets see how the weekend plays out.

Race 1 of the WSBK weekend is in the books and Mr. Bautista enjoyed a win in front of his home fans. No more spoilers.

Rea just never gives up and he's now closing in on Toprak for second place in the championship.

    Meanwhile, in Portimao...

    upload_2022-10-9_19-42-29.png

Bautista doing enough to keep his lead and zero in on his first championship (and make up for blowing it in 2019!).

Longest jump honours went to Toprak.

In my opinion, he should have won it in 2019, so it will be a belated championship for Bautista.

Bautista riding well and just doing enough to secure the championship (probably at this round). Toprak shows off his impressive skills by accepting the winners trophy in the handstand position!

    Pretty boring race
Whats happened to Redding and the Beemer .... they were in the mix a few rounds ago .... hopefully next year theres a few more up the front instead of the same "3"

Yes, I concur. In my opinion, that's the difference between MotoGP and WSBK; There are plenty of potential winners in MotoGP, but WSBK is limited to three riders with the odd track-specific rider/bike taking a surprise win. BMW have fallen away.

Last round of the year and it's at The Island just to make it even more exciting. A dead rubber, but still worth attending. My next door neighbour has taken himself and his new Ducati over to the mainland on the boat (Spirit of Tasmania) to help the many Ducati faithful celebrate. He'll come back with a decent headache and the latest strain of Covid me thinks.
