There are 2 sources of oil for that symptom that I can think of.
    1/ rings
    2/ valve guide
If the spark plug is also black and wet then you can probably assume it is rings.
I would think it unusual to see that much oil as a result of a valve guide seal being worn.
Can you do a leakdown test?
    cheers
    Blair

yeah blair is onto it - if the valve seats are gone, it could be like mine where sludged oil deposits can be sighted down the intake runners sitting right on top of the intake valves, will probably be that same story for the exhaust valves.
and yeah, rings/scrapers moving that fast up and down wont live forever :(

    - when u drop the oil, next, let me know if there is fuel contamination evident (for my own curiosity)

don't stress to hard about it, just keep an eye on the oil lens. start sourcing seats, rings, new valves if it gets really bad

she's got at least 30,000km's left!

if you do find one of those motors to be sound, take the opportunity to strip the old one and do a light rebuild:thumb_ups: would make a cool thread!

Just make sure it's not actually the valve cover leaking onto the ports before doing anything major, as this was the issue with mine a while back
