Having one of each I can give you my verdict - they are very similar power wise (both claimed 45hp by respective manufacturers), and very similar weight. The real differences are in the rest of the package. The Honda is more nimble - shorter wheelbase, has better wheels - (wider rear fits the 150 pirelli supercorsa better than the yamaha rear wheel) The yamaha has better brakes and front forks, and you will fit better if you are tall. Cheers Simon
Bike is looking great! coming along nicely, should be ready for Southern downs 1 at this stage! Agree with Sim there, also having raced both, Even though i do fit better on the FZR at 6'1, I find the shortness of the CBR puts me into a better position on the bike. Just wondering, was there a reason you wanted a standard exhaust and not just an aftermarket one?
Hey Mick I wont be racing ( ambition outweighs ability), I more want to do some track days at QR and Lakeside for some fun. A mate of mine has a stock pipe for Lakeside as they are pretty strict on noisy pipes and I have heard they are doing something similar at QR, I don't want to spend a heap of cash booking a track day and getting sidelined because my pipe is too loud. Simon tends to think it will be okay, but I'm just hedging my bets. Better to be safe than sorry. Cheers Chris
Hey risky, its all good mate, I can pick you up at the senior citizens home you get day releases don't you ?
not their yet but reserved a few places...phil, grey ,murdo.....list is endless .BUT BEING SERIOUS GIVE PHIL A GO AS I RECKON HE COULD TEACH YOUNG PUPS A LESSON.lol.
Ahh ok, i rode mine there late last year with the same pipe as his and was ok, but best to be safe as it is a heap of cash!, Are you able to get a loaner of a stock pipe? if so I have a straight through you are quite welcome to a lend of to try and revert to the stock if noise is an issue, that way the day is not lost if it is over noise limits.
been a quiet of late with the track bike project, but I ordered some cheapo fork adjusters on ebay, when they arrived, one fitted and one didn't so I contacted the seller and he was great, he sent me new ones, here is a pic, they are now on the bike. My painter has been busy, hopefully this week I get my panels back from him
Spray a bit of wd40/inox or soapy water around the adjuster and push the forks up and down and look for bubbles. No bubbles is good - we have found the quality of the o-rings on these kids of things to be a bit average and often leak. If there are bubbles then replace the o-rings and it should be fine. Cheers Simon
Hey Simon I saw on your website you didn't like the stock ones, so I replaced them with thicker ones, I will try your Inox \ Soapy water trick and make sure they don't leak. thanks Chris
