I have seen a few Megelli's getting around Brisbane, from a distance they are an awesome looking bike. I checked out their Australian website http://www.motorsportimporters.com.au and they 3 models on offer, these being :

    Megelli 250S - 250cc Naked @ $3990.00 + ORC
    Megelli 250R - 250R fully faired street bike @ $5250.00 + ORC
Megelli 250R LC - 250cc fully faired liquid cooled 250 single - no pricing available

A few reviews have complained that the engine oil needs to be changed every 3000 kms and thats its a english designed bike, manufactured in China... Does anyone have one, care to comment ?

changing the oil every 3 thou K has been normal proceedure for my bikes for around 40 years now, and if you do that your  bikes will last 40 years or more.
Of course there is more to it than just regular oil changes but it is a VITAL part.

If anyone is interested I will set up a few basic classes to help you keep your bike happy and it will save your pocket lots of dollars in the long term.

thanks Chris, I think the reveiws were referring to the fact that the big 4 Japanese manuafacturers have set their servcie interbvals at 5k, where as the Megelli was set at 3k  which prompted some negative feedback.

I have attempted to Join the Megelli owners forum and Facebook group with a veiw to trying to find some local owners to get them to join up and share their Megelli ownership experience.

    stay tuned

Well I sat on a megelli 250R today and Im quite impressed, I thought the build quality would be poor, but I walked away quite impressed by the bike, a few more horses and it would be a real winner. The salesman at team Motto Hyosung had them in stock, he reckons they are walking out the door.

Hi there, I've got a 2011 250s and it's been a great bike so far. As my first road bike it's easy to ride and sounds and handles ok too. A couple of little things have started show their head (which is mainly due to build quality), such as things coming loose and the headlight has started to play up in the last couple of days. Being a single it rattles and vibrates a bit.
One thing is I changed the tyres almost straight away with Speed Demons (the stock tyres should be outlawed, my rear was cast with a buckle in it).
I've been for rides with mates who all ride big sports bikes and around the twisty stuff it holds it's own pretty well and I don't get left too far behind. The only problem is I scrap the peg too much when leaned over (need someone to make rearsets for them.

All in all, it's a great bike to comute on and pretty dam good on fuel.

    hello

I'm a megelli 250r se 2011 owner and so far not really happy with it....

It's been a month and a half since I bought it, brand new

and i have had constant problems since i got it

-Replaced the golden rod that connected the gear shifting pedal to the gears because it became loose
-Replaced Horn because it didnt even work
-Replaced fuel tap because i couldnt start up properly

and now when all of this has been fixed, my fuel gauge light stopped working so i dont know when im running low on fuel and i actually got down to nothing once and i was stranded for a while....

constant problems which i dont think the service people know how to fix are the stiff gear changing, you cant get to neutral from gear 1, can only get it to N from shifting down from gear 2 and the brakes are squeaking sometimes..............

One other problem im starting to notice, the paint job or whatever layer on the petrol tank area is starting to have tiny tiny bubbles......

I'm a newbie at bikes, this is my first ever motorcycle and I'm a learner as well so it's been a pretty crap experience for me....

    Hey B.feng91

Sorry to hear your having problems with your bike, you do however have rights as a consumer and I hoep your dealer is working through each of the issues. I would document the date and times of each issue you have encountered and put it back on the dealer for resolution. Else if you cant get a satisfactory outcome, then I would suggest formal correspondance to the dealer principle requesting he respond to each of the items you raise.

Im a firn believer that all bikes will have niggles from time to time, and some more than others, the dealer needs to step up and resolve these issues for you. If you are not getting the service you think you deserve then try the distributor for advice.

    Hey b.feng91

Very sorry to hear your having these problems so soon after purchase of a brand new machine.
However as Chris has outlined for you, you do have certain rights as a consumer and you should exercise these rights so as to have a satisfactory outcome.
Hope you get these issues resolved and please keep us posted as to your progress.
                                                            Cheers  Phil

I test rode one of these before I got my fzr and visually they are probably the best looking 250 out there. UnFortunatly the ride can only be compared to that of a 125 pit bike. I was trully disappointed as it looks so damn good.

Hopefully in the future megelli will focus more on performance and less on aesthetics. In my opinion go for an older inline 4. Might not have the looks but sure as hell have the performance.

    Hey Slender
You have ridden one which is more than I can say. They look hot, but if performance doesn't match the look, well that's another story. Wouldn't it be cool to drop a 4 pot into the Megelli frame, could be an awesome bike.
Anyhow welcome to the forum                    Phil

Couldn't agree more they definitely ride like a Chinese bike. Hopefully in the future they will work on the engine because they are definitely a good looking bike.

I daresay that we wont ever see any more 4 cylinder 250's on the market, the recent changes to Moto3 rules will eman single cylinder 250's racing in that category next year, alas the manufacturers are already making singles.

    my 2 cents

    Chris

thats why I bought a ZXR :) ,  I have to agree, there was a real purple patch for 250's between 1986 - 1999 , then things changed. I think we will see singles, V Twins and paralell twins in the future...  4cyl bikes are expensive to manufacture in comparrison.

Couldn't agree more that's why I've always stuck to the older bikes ie cbr or the fzr I have now. They just don't do things the way they used to.
