Well, last weekend I headed out to pick up a few bikes, one of which was a CBR250RRMC22, the previous owner said it was a friend of his , it hadn't run in 4.5 years, he tried a shedload of things but she had no spark, he thought it was the cdi. I paid my $200 and bought the old girl home. Looks like a dog ate the front fender, that's okay I have a spare Tyga one here :)

I hooked up a battery and low and behold, there was no spark. I started testing everything I could and still no spark. I replaced the CDI and VRE with spares I had here, still no spark, did the obvious, check fuses etc all good. I did find the side stand switch loom had a broken wire, so I just put the green\white wire to ground and tried again.. doh no spark... I thought I had found the issue, back to the drawing board.

Phil came down last night to give me hand and we systematically went through everything, we tested every wire from the CDI back, We dumped the oil then Phil pulled the stator off, it was in great condition, I then decided to pull the pulse generator off, all looked clean... I pull the wires through from the loom and noticed one seemed a tad longer even though it was in the sheath.... light bulb moment ,broken wire

I did a quick dodgy repair, grounded a plug to the head hit the starter... woot we have spark, we had been at it for 4 hours and it was after 11pm, so we waited until this morning to see if she would run. When I got up this morning we put some fresh oil in her, poured some fuel in and she backfired big time... I check the coil leads and they were wrong, I set the leads up properly and hit the starter again... she roared into life. The radiator wasn't fitted so Phil and I fitted that up, put in some coolant and let her run. We found the radiator is buggered, its leaking so I will need to source another...

Stoked, for a bike that hasn't run in years, she revs very cleanly up to 12000, I will buy a kit from Litetek.co for her as well as some new jets and needle and seat before reassembling her.

I have started putting a shopping list together... time and finances will dictate how long this old girl takes to get on the track as I want her built up as a spare bike when I do track days, super happy with progress to date

    Old Honda's never die !!!!

Just ordered a litetek.co Carby kit... so I can rebuild the carbies

I do need some parts, does anyone have a complete air box and a radiator they want to part with?

While the cibby is now a good running bike, I want to make sure it stays that way, when troubleshooting the electrical gremlins, I did find some burnt wires on loom going to the voltage regulator. This is a common fault on the MC22's and I found a replacement plug from xcitebikes.com.au , this saves me having to replace the complete harness, rather just
cut the old plug off, fit a new one and its done for $12

I also ordered some new levers, main jets, float valves, regulator plug, battery, swing arm spools, digital gauges, clutch cable, once the Litetk kit arrives, then the rebuild will get underway.

Last Friday night was a good night in Chris's garage :thumb_ups:. When we looked at the pulse generator, we decided to remove it and check it on the bench, told Chris to feed the wire to me and that's when he hit the Jackpot. Needless to say a few HI 5"s were on the cards. Have to be honest, I did not expect to find a broken wire there, already I had resigned myself to the fact that we were going to have to pull the loom to pieces to find a broken wire somewhere. It was a very good night :thumb_ups:. The rest of the week end got even better, but that's another story. A good night in the Man cave!!!

well she is going to be my spare track bike, but instead of fitting race glass, I decided to fit stock fairings as Th3 Huntsman tipped me off to some on Gumtree. I dropped by to pick them up tonight and they are awesome and cost me a paltry $50, I gave them a quick polish and the have come up tops.

Meanwhile, a big package arrived from Xcitebikes.com.au which comprised of some trick levers, a new battery, clutch cable , reg harness adapter, new carby boots and some windscreen bolts. Battery is in, levers are on, clutch cable will be done tomorrow when I give the carbs a once over.

I feel like its one 3 steps forward , high five, then another 3 steps forward... as Charlie sheen would say.. WINNING !!!

I also found a radiator for $50 which I will get tomorrow and I found a airbox for $77 :)

picked up the air box , radiator and a side stand switch, radiator is now fitted and working well. I attempted to get the carbs off and they were stuck good and solid, I had to use a fork leg to jimmy the carbs, took me over half an hour to get them off, the old boots were rock hard. Surprisingly, the carbs were quite clean, fitted new float valves and main jets and gave them a good clean. Xcitebikes had some new carby holders which I fitted... still not the easiest to get on, but thye are now in, airbox is on, and best of all it still runs.

I also cut a few stickers last night to offset the all black look.

Next on the list is brakes , chain and sprocket, fork seals and tyres

    Hi Kiffsta,
Your kit is on the way. I was out of town for the week and had internet issues, but Da (my wife) looked after it.
