    No way mate.

    Have a couple of questions mate;
1- Should the idle needle be completely still, or is a slight twitch/fluctuation normal?

2: rear suspension, should I be able to bounce it an bottom it out stood still? Not sure how stiff the rear should be as this was quite soft, but I only had my mates r1 as an example.

A little bit of movement on idle should be expected these little engines have big cams and a lumpy idle. It shouldnt fluctuate say 500rpm.

I do not think do that sounds shagged

welcome along mate! nice to have more Perth members on board.

rear shock is flogged out by the sounds of it, however its an old bike, the shocks are soft anyway been a 250 so i wouldn't let that be the deciding factor of buying a bike. check for play in the swing arm, that will be your true tell.

slight variation in idle is normal, lumpy is not. there are a lot of rough bikes out there but rough is not always bad, its the rough bikes made to look new are the worry :)

Thanks moo, hopefully I get to meet you guys. Do you have ride/track days that get organised over here?

I did see that come up but the guy hasnt replied yet. But for 1500, then 500 for fairings, then possibly a carbie clean and serviced and for seals I take it any electrical gremlins that could be there to get it registered I could be pushing another 1500?? Correct me if im looking at it the wrong way.

I had a look at 3 bikes on sunday, I liked this one I went to see on Sunday 50k on the clock. [IMG]
The guy had fork seals done, carbies cleaned bike was in very good condition for 3500 just needed a new front tyre as it was showing signs of cracking.

you're probably right CDaly, it depends what you're into.
I like fixing things, so prefer to buy something broken and then spend money on fixing it.
I find a bit more satisfaction that way, but this is not everyone's cup of tea.

It could be that the only thing wrong with that is is the fairings, the advert is a bit light on details.
He/she may even have the fairings and took them off as he/she preferred the look (that's hopeful thinking for you!)

That repsol is a good looking bike.
    :)

I agree the fixing up idea is great and I would love a project like that but (used to do a bit on my cars) sadly I now live in an apartment with an open shared car space so no place to fiddle with things :-(

Going to view the white one as the owner of that has done a lot of work on it to get it running for his wife. Carbs, seals, tyres brakes new fairings. Then ill make my decision between the two but I do like a white bike.

that looks to be a great bike!

What excuse can I use for trolling gumtree now?

Dont forget that if the bike is 25 years old you can join the VMCCWA and get concessional licensing.
Mind you then you're only supposed to use the bike for club events and "testing"

Haha thats my problem now iv decided, its a hobby of myn trolling gumtree!

thanks Greggie, I havnt any idea about the licensing, does it matter if you do lots of testing the bike around the streets??

What happens if I get pulled over? How can they prove I wasn't going for a leisurely ride out?
