Help What the HELL do you need to blue-slip an Mc19 ???

    Hello Everybody !
    Brother in law took his mc19 in for blue-slip, all was going fine until the mech stopped in his track's at the chassis # and import compliance plate ? Claiming the bike also needed a sticker ??? WTF ??? But couldnt explain what type of sticker or what it looked like ?? He then took photo's of the vin # & plate and said "he would ask the inspector" .
    Now bike not rego'd and us wondering what the @#$% to do now !
    Anyone had drama's similar to this with vin #'s or if there is some paperwork issue ?
    Any help is very greatly appreciated ! Thank you.

    2007 CBF250F, 2004 KLR650, 1992 FZR400, 2 x CB250RS (1980 and 1982),
    Closest I had to that was being asked where the original compliance plate was on Nix as she's a grey import model. I had the previous rego papers from when she was last registered in NSW though.

    ACT laws are slightly different so not sure on the requirements in other states.

    When I lived in NSW it was inspector by inspector as to whether they were a royal pain in the bum or bearable.

    If it hasn't been registered before he may be anal and request an engineer's certificate, not too hard to get.

    The catch though is that when he does the inspection he needs to put a "failure" reason into the system for the RTA. Did he do this and if so what was the reason?

    If he hasn't put anything into the system and left it hanging, I'd sneak away and go elsewhere. As soon as the RTA ties him to an inspection you're stuck...

    Also, if it has a VIN you should be fine....

    You should be able to get thru a blue with a receipt from the seller ..... other paperwork helps too

    eng/chassis number of course has to match the paperwork

    He may be referring to the noise test on the exhaust system ...my FZR had a db test passed sticker on the swingarm ...this is part of the compliance procedure when grey imported.

    needs to have stock setup

    go elsewhere as the guy sounds like he has no clue

    If it has not been registered in the country before you will need the import papers.
    To find out if it has been registered you can hit the free sites like
    http://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/check-registration-and-history-vehicle
    but you may need to call the registering authority in each state.
    If it has not been registered then you will need the import papers.
    If you don't have them you can get copies from the dept of infrastructure
    http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/faq/other_issues.aspx

    When we got our MC19 rego'd the Vicroads looked at the engine & frame number then asked to see the compliance plate.
    I said "is that the little silver label they punch onto the frame?"
    He said "yup"
    "I haven't seen it"
    He looks over the bike then asks what year it was made.
    "1988"
    "Ah, they didn't have a compliance plate back then, all good!"

    It was that easy, the guy was great :)
