I would estimate parts from Suzuki would easily be $1000 - $1500 then add labour and paint etc, I would assume it will be written off, such as shame as you have done a heap of work and it was a really tidy bike. if they write it off, you might be able to buy it back and fix it up yourself. Glad you are okay, thats the main thing.
Wat a crapper ...... check the laws on writeoffs there as I think here in NSW now theres no 'repairable writeoff' situation anymore .... in other words if its written off it cant be fixed and re registered. Luckily your ok yourself
in nsw if written off is parts only,i.e needs new frame.the insurance company might sell it back to you as part of the settlement.labour would be the killer.i would take the bike and money and then buy another one and keep parts for spares.
glad to hear your ok mate. as the guys said, if you can buy it back do, your bike will fetch a salvage estimate of maybe $200 so i wouldn't pay much more than that to buy it back. if its NSW, all write off's are statutory and can not be re-registered. my ninja frame is from NSW and its a stat w/o. as risky said if you can buy it back use it for parts.....or use it as a track bike
Assessors called me today and said that they're pretty sure it's a write off. They also asked if I had any attachment and I said nope - the guy said he'll load the quote up more. I've started to look for some bikes - now, I got the Across because it was cheap and I could fix it up. I like naked bikes so that's what I'd be looking at. The top three are the pick of the bunch Honda CB400 would be nice IF the funds are available. Hyosung GT 250/650 is also on the board, the 650's don't look that quick according to Youtube videos. I have heard good and bad about them - mainly electrical issues. Suzuki Bandit GSF 250 - similar to the Across engine which I didn't mind at all - there's one that's in showroom condition near me. Ducati Monster 400 - have not done much research on these Honda VRT250 Thoughts, other suggestions welcome. I do 450-600kms weekly, commute and twisties on the weekend if it's dry.
out of those bike options I would pick the Bandit, I have heard some amazing rumors about an "unbeatable person on the downhill" using one of those bikes.
Yeah I do like the Bandit. This is the one in great condition: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dand...f-250-bandit-lams-learner-approved/1069189726
Yeah that looks mint! but dont u want something pre 1994 before the restrictions came in? Not sure if that applies to the bandit though.
if you do get that yellow one though get this bumble bee transformers helmet cover!!!!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bumblebee-M...icker-Decal-Transformers-Street-/321387169527 that would be so cool.
If it's anything like the Across it was believed the CDI was the restricter. For 5HP though I'm not too bothered
"for 5hp thought I'm not too bothered" You didn't deserve to be in a crash, that kind of personality should be good karma. I would fight for even a quarter of a HP if given the opportunity (or 2kg less, or 1cm bigger dics ect ect ect).
The Bandit is pretty close to the Across, similar weight, hp and torque - my across was restricted as well - once the carbs were synced just recently it actually ran really good, the torque improved greatly - if you launched it, it done 0-100 in reasonable time. I didn't count it but it wasn't too bad.
Yeah I used to own an across, I miss man bag BADLY. But outside of that the feeling of getting on a pre 1994 mc22 in comparison is dramatic. The across wiki says "cbr250rr killer" hahahaha quite the opposite in my experience lol.
My Hyo GTR goes well enough but its no excitement machine perfect learners bike it has a restrictive exhaust system with a resonator so theres vibration when u ride we call it the Korean sewing machine
I'll most likely stay with a 250 until I'm off restrictions, as good as it would be having more power I don't need it. How is the Hyosung @GreyImport ? Tell me more about it!
