    Well it's not so much what I done to my bike but more what my bike done to me.

    IT TRIED TO KILL ME!!!

    Lucky I was only doing about 20kms when it happened. The bolt head snapped and the bar fell out. Any idea what size the bolt is? The bike is still at work so hopefully I have something around I can use as a temp fix to get her home...

    WOW, that's huge , glad you didn't come off. These are high tensile bolts and shouldn't snap under normal use, although I did see Kieran McGowan snap his handlebar when he was racing , Im starting wonder if we put too much pressure on them when we strap our bikes down for transport ? Im sure I have spare handle bar here that I could pull a bolt from if you get really stuck.

    Yeah I thought it was a bit weird for that bolt to snap and it doesn't get strapped down to often and definitely wasn't over tightened. Any idea what the thread size is? I can get aircraft grade bolts from work to replace them with if they have the right size.

    I was thinking the same thing then I started wondering how I was going to get home as it's about a 20km walk. Normally I would be happy to do it but not when all I had to wear was riding gear.

    Got to work and replaced the bolt but the one I had was a little bit to long so I put a nut on it as well and I'll get some proper replacements on the way home this afternoon.

    Today I checked the accuracy of my speedo. Have you checked yours Fred?

    I couldn't find the results of your speedo accuracy test. I tried a search for the term "speedo" in all of your posts. maybe you left the word out of the post just to confuse me. :)

    I'm curious to know how accurate your new speedo is because I have only ever bothered to check the speedo accuracy on two bikes, both CB250RSs.

    I checked mine today against my GPS and it seems that I only need 95 on the speedo to be actually doing 100 and by the time the speedo shows 100, I am actually doing 107.

    That is still better than one I checked several years ago. It was doing 100 before the speedo got to 90. However that was only checked against another bike, so may not have been an accurate test.

    So have you checked yours? What was the result?

    I haven't ridden Scarlet in ages and the rego has expired. Never got around to testing with a GPS. Seemed accurate compared to the traffic I rode her in though!
