suzuki across running a little rough sometimes coughing and spluttering a bit leaned out the air mix via the 4 screws which has stopped the back fires but would still like to run smoother one of the things i'm looking at is the adjusting the needles up a notch and possibly replacing the slide holders as per http://suzukiacross.org/2007/05/30/fix-fallen-throttle-slide-holders/ however, i can't work out how to remove the slide holders from the dark plastic cylinders any tips? thanks
I have done this task *nods*. If you are replacing them just pull the old ones out with a pair of pliers *nods* gotta pull pretty hard. an alternative to adjusting the needles (i did that on my across and regretted it later) is just put a gs500 uni-filter airfilter in, theres a tutorial in here somewhere. But replacing the throttle slide holders is still a good idea *nods*.
Thanks Damus. I'm not sure if I want to replace them. I'd like to get inside and have a look. Does pulling as hard as possible with pliers break them? ta
I pulled mine apart and cleaned them out. I found I had to turn them a bit, then pull and wiggle it a bit. They seem to be only held in by the plastic dimple bits. (I didn't use pliers, didn't want to snap anything as it's all plastic)
I found I pretty much wrecked mine pulling them out with pliers but my intention was to change them so I didn't mind.
I pulled mine out with pliers and still put them back in. But be careful as the pliers will bite into the plastic. Where abouts you located?
