I dropped my bike from stationary. It didn't fall very hard as I broke the fall. But then it didn't start. I did a hill start and it started fine. Drove home 25kms no problem but when I got home it still wouldn't start by itself. It's not the battery as the lights are all fine etc but just makes a clicking noise when I try button start. Ideas? It's a 1996 Suzuki across gsx250f Ideas appreciated because we can't work it out. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Was it clicking when u initially tried to start it? Id say you have drained the battery .... and 25ks wont charge it fully If u have a multimeter then see what voltage its holding less than full charge will light the lights but not enough to start the bike http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/how-do-i-test-my-12-volt-battery-and-charging-system.1794/
generally when you hearing clicking, there isn't enough power in the system to turn the starter motor, I would suggest sticking your battery on charge and see if she comes good
Check that the connections onto the battery terminals are tight & clean, it may have dislodged & loosesed
Test battery, solenoid & starter motor with a multimeter. This will confirm which component is faulty. Battery should read 12+ volts when the starter is pressed. Solenoid should send 12+v to the starter motor. If starter motor is getting electricity but not cranking the engine, it's stuffed. Brushes worn and the knock killed it.
Started with jump leads. Does that mean it's definitely the battery? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
charge your battery and try it before you buy a new one. the drop may have spilt acid so check level .you may also have broken a cell inside so that would mean new battery. buy a agm one and they are sealed. i like motobatt, others like ssb.look at ebay for an idea on price before going to local battery supplier.
Thanks everyone. Much appreciated. The battery charged today and got a ride in. Hopefully the battery stays charged and nothing wrong with the alternator.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
