Hi all, Has anybody done the 250 to 400 conversion. It's a 2kr model. I am also looking for a price and availability of a 400 engine. It seems to me that 400's are cheaper to buy as I'm told they were sold in Australia. I am told this conversion is quite common and there are adaptor plates available. Cheers Graham
I may do the 250 to 400 convesion when the 250 engine in mine goes bang. It doesn't look too hard to do, and I know that the brakes are up to it on the 3LN.
the manual for teh 400 is around somewhere (in pdf) so perhaps you can look into that for sizes to see how compatible the frames are? (see <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://p072.ezboard.com/fexupbrotherhoodfrm42.showMessage?topicID=2.topic">http://p072.ezboard.com/fexupbrotherhoo ... Thanks guys. This was my sons bike, he's an apprentice motorbike mechanic. On the weekend he bought an trx850 with race cams and a killer (ducati type exhaust, Biiiggggg back rim tyre etc so I inherited the FZR250. This will be a fun project as I used to own a motorbike shop in my younger days in Canberra and raced a bike for many years. Plus I want to put this 400 in the 250 frame and give my son something to thing about with his 850...lol If you guys come across any more info on the conversion from a 250 to 400 engine let me know please Cheers Graham
you may also want to ask the folk at the exup brotherhood - fzr 400/600 section. There may be some there that are familiar with both the 400's and 250's and can give you a more detailed answer.[/url]
im really sorry to open a very old thread... but is it really possible to convert a 250 engine to a 400 engine???
The only way would be to transplant a motor. I doubt that there is enough cyl wall to bore out to a 400.
