I went to Yamaha today. $30 EACH for the friction plates. $8 for the 6th one, and $5 each for the springs.... I am getting MAJORLY ripped!

I didn't pay it. Does anyone know where I can go to get my friction plates and not get ripped off?

Hi guys, very helpfull thread.
I just replaced clutch plates and springs, using a torque wrench set to 10NM.
I have a lot of clutch rattle when in neutral with my hand off the lever. Have I done something wrong, perhaps to do with the central screw? Or should I just see what happens in time?

The noise you would be hearing would be the gears in the gearbox rolling around unloaded - not really an issue...

Yeah no problems, just took her out for a nice ride, clutch works great.
The bike is feeling excelent and if i seat myself right at the back of the seat, I think I feel the front going a little light under hard accelleration.

By the way this can be done without draining the oil, with bike resting on its sidestand.

The springs are what the 4 screws are pushing down. You can actually just see them in these pictures.

10nm is 1kg at a metre length. Usually you can get close to correct torque by tightening comfortably by hand with the appropriate size ring spanner.

Hi, I would like to ask you, how large the lamella clutch size. To order new ones, because we all have worn. Hungary can not be assigned to the FZR250. FZR400 if it's the size, you can order anything, so we ask for dimensions.

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS: Sorry for the bad translation:)

Hi, "P".

Translation is a little odd, but understandable. For "lamella", it should have been "plate." The 250 uses the same plates as the FZR400 and 600. You want to order:

5x 3XP-16321-00 (part number was 21V-16321-00-00) Friction Plate (fiber, cork)
1x 1HX-16331-00 Friction Plate 2
5x 131-16324-00 Clutch plate (steel)

Replace the steel plates only if needed.

The 1HX-16331-00 Friction Plate 2 sits in the middle of the clutch. It is machined to a larger inner diameter, so a flat spring can ride inside. If you can't get the 1HX-16331-00 plate, you can replace it with another 3XP-16321 (remove the flat spring).

From babylon.com:

Fordítási kissé furcsa, de érthető. A "lamella" kellett volna "lemezt."

A 1HX-16331-00 Széjjeldörzsölés lapot 2 ül a közepén a tengelykapcsoló. A megmunkált a nagyobb belső átmérőjű, így a lapos tavasszal lehet lovaglóösvény belül.

Dontz Hi! Thank you very much for your help, very pleased to hear that the FZR-400 also has the same dimensions, you can also buy a home, no need to order from abroad. What will I write it and I put up pictures:)

Thanks for your help!

CAN ANYONE HELP!!!

i was following this tutorial doing the clutch plate change on my 3ln3 all was going well i as at assembling stage, all the new plates were back in the basket in the correct order all lubed up n wot not. i put the cover back on the plates (the one with the four bolts and springs not the outside engine cover) and proceeded to torque up the nuts to 10NM as the tutorial said to do
but i felt a snap as i approached the required torque and thought i had stripped the thread but found that the part which the spring sits on which is recessed just gave way and smashed off!!
picture 3 shows it best i think. just imagine the flange at the bottom completely smashed off .
now i defiantly had the torque wrench set to 10NM which is also 88.5 inch pounds ( that's what it read on the opposite imperial scale i use the things at work all the time). the torque wrench has been calibrated so nothing wrong there. now im really pissed off cos i think Ive miss-read something but i cant figure out what???
am i just a Muppet or is there something i haven't been told.
I WANT TO RIDE SO BADLY

PLEASE RESPOND

I just went and checked the FZR250 manual, and it calls out 0.6 kg.m, or 5.9 N.m, or 52 lb.in - NOT 10 N.m

I wouldn't have though such a low torque would be enough to strip out the basket!

I hate to say it, but to the best of my knowledge that damage is irreparable; the hub must be replaced...

Fortunately, the hubs aren't too expensive. There's a guy selling a complete clutch assy on EBay for 30GBP (with a broken basket - tell him to pitch it and save the postage) http://cgi.ebay.ca/YAMAHA-FZR250-FZ...55?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3f0bc77a23

You can get one brand new from Germany http://www.teile-katalog.com/?ALIAS....teile-katalog.com&PARTNUMBER=3YX-16371-00-00 for 64 Euros. Who knows - your local Yamaha stealership might be able to bring one in! 3YX-16371-00-00
