Firstly...
Is anyone here from Christchurch NZ?? (Home of the mighty Crusadors)

Secondly...
When I finally get my bike, hopefully FZR or equivilent, what should i do to text the quarter mile, top speed etc? Most of you i bet will have the same need for speed, but I want to find out how i can do it legally and everything. There is a track near by (ruapuna) but I'm not sure the whole deal about people like me comming down to test my machine. So what should i do?

I know everyone wants to know their top speed of their bike etc...but paying money to find out..is it really worth it?

Whats your interest in the first place? bragging rights or wat?

Top speed of an fzr seems to be around 170-190 depending on winds and slope of the road.

Acceleration from 0-100kms I think from memory is around the 5 second mark.

you're on a 4 stroke 250 mate... You won't be breaking any records

will this be your first bike? Because if it is then it'll be your personal skill that dictates how fast you can go. Your launch and gear changes will be pretty average for a while

Yea, it willl me my first and I haven't riden before. I'm not too bothered about launching off really well, I only want to try it once. I'm not sure that Ruapuna even has open days though, maybe I'll go down and have a look. I don't really want to pay for it, so maybe I'll just make up some numbers, I don't think my mates will be able to take any bragging rights anyway, especially because none of them have/are going to get motorbikes. And even 250s will smash all of them...

BTW - Really love this forum guys. Its awesome. Was going to get a fizzer a while ago, but found out it didnt start and I didnt want to waste my money on something I couldn't guarentee worked. So heopefully, within a few months, I'll be riding...

if you really want to learn a bit about riding on the cheap offer to be a flag marshal at a race meeting. you get the best viewing position, they usually feed you, and you can learn a lot by being up close to the action.
if you dont know any of the race commity ask at the Honda shop in Christ Church, i think a couple of guy from there race.
