Looks like i'll be staying here for a long long time to come! As of this afternoon, I am the proud owner of a 1992 Yamaha FZR 1000. It's got a bit of work to do on it, so i won't be posting pics quite yet... but i'll mention now that it's an absolute stunner - and definitely not your average FZR. For those who happen to know a bit more info about it... don't let it slip. I'll post a sneak peek photo or 2 maybe later on.
You are just a tease Koma...
Ok, here's a bit more of a teaser... No more after this one though, otherwise it'll spoil it. I may post up some progress shots when work commences though.
You mean mean man..... What a nice arse.....
Waaaaaay off! Start thinking 'outside' the square. I will give you a hint and say the tail is off a bike newer than 2002.
Congrats on the upgrade, mate - didn't know it was on the cards so soon. But thats the way it is with bikes - one day you're punting the 250 around, next day you go, damn, I'm gonna buy a 1000 and get serious. And you do. Well done. Nice bike. As for the top secret mods, i'm hopeless with this stuff - as long as it goes good, I'd be stoked.
Haha.. neither did i. It kinda went alot quicker than i expected. On Tuesday i'm mentioning that maybe i'd like to sell my bike and checking for interest; on Saturday it's sold. As for the 1000... well that wasnt really planned either - but when i saw it i couldnt say no.
I might write up a summary list of costs at the end of phase 1 (getting it on road as a streetfighter)... might not if it balloon's out . Ill just say that this particular model with this amount of km's on it (29k original km's) is worth a packet, and i got it for a darn good price. Kudos to TBone for finding and Brucey from Yamwreck for hooking me up with the new monster. Both these guys REALLY know their trade! (And how to twist my arm when i say... 'nah, i don't think i really want a 1000!' )
It's not buell is it. Pretty sure not one of the new models anyway. Is that "'outside' the square" enough?
I'd like to hear your impressions of it after you have had it for a month and had a chance to "rip" it a couple of times.
Yep.. well it took a little while to get... but yes the tail is off a 2003 CBR Fireblade 954 - complete with LED tail lights and everything! Certainly brings the appearance of the bike up to modern standards. Front end will be fighterised, but probably only temporarily until something more permanent can be arranged / fabricated. Just picked up the headlight assembly and it'll be getting some vinyl work done so it complements the rest of the bike. When it's had a bit more work and in more of a presentable state i'll show a bit more of it. FZR Dude - yep, i'll most definitely let you know what i think after i've had it on the road for a while. I'm sure it'll take me a little while to get into the feel of the bike as it's alot bigger and heavier than my previous 3LN. PS. Just signed up over on the brotherhood with a few questions and an intro post. I'm going stir crazy not having a bike on the road. I got so desperate i even took a pushy out for a spin in the city but it just wasnt the same... although i did get the front wheel off the ground more often than on the 250.
