    Not too bad at all

Here is a bit of Rally Tasmania 2008 that I have just done radio communications for.
It is a bit of TV news coz I don't actually get to see much from the mountain tops.

    And some pics

View from Mt Cleveland looking east. The cars start on the last bit of road in the distance, about 5K away.
They wind through those hills towards us as you can see bits of the road here and there. It is an excellent ride on a bike too.

Looking to the North East with Companion hill (about 40k away) and St Valentines peak both in the center of the shot.

Looking down to the south at the old mining township of Luina (nearly 3k away). It is nearly rehabilitated
now but the greener bit was where the mine site was.

Looking at the Savage river mine site and dam on the right and town on the left. All about 15K away.
    The stage finishes there.

    Classic section cars.

Gotta luv getting out in the sticks, the photos dont do justice really. It takes 1/2 hour to drive the 9k gravel road to the top
and you need 4wd for some of it.

Yes the tow truck had a plenty of customers.

Found this on the exup brotherhood

I don't advocate this at all, I have to wonder if this guy is still alive if he tries these sort of stunts. One patch of spilt diesel and it would have been all over..

This is not so cool but just a side interest for me. I have been fooling around making bike vids with separate cameras and mics trying to get good sound quality.

I have designed a little circuit to get some decent audio from an electret mic. Cheap and only a few parts and I am pleased with the results so far.

I am looking at building another circuit soon, featuring audio compression (AGC) to keep the levels a bit more constant.

For all the technical people here is the schematic. Just built from a few simple components.

and here is a video using said amp. The rider (not me) was using a bullet cam taped on the helmet and the mic was in the backpack wrapped in foam along with the handi-cam which was doing the recording through the A/V input
