    HEY FZR PPL..
i live in the dominican republic..
got this bike really cheap ($100 US)
    chassis - 3LN-326398
    but it was missing everithing!
got it to have a little project...
been almost 2 years and still havent been able to ride it.

i have in it about $1000 dollars up to now but im not ready to give up..
bought a used engine bcuz the one it had was bad but it didnt include
carbs so its been hell since its like the only fzr 250 in this country..
and the old carbs were in horrible shape... a mechanic here got them working but it only idles.. if you give it gas it stalls..
maybe due to the fact that i have no air filter, or the factory air box that goes on the carbs, just 4 little air filters..

    everything is missing!!!
theres no lights at all, some plastics missing, no speedometer, no temp guage, no air box, no gas cap..

well i need peoples opinion on whether tie it to my trucks rear bumper and drag it to the junk yard, or keep fixing it!

a mechanic here told me he can turn it into fuel injected so i really need some opinions on what to do...

    thanks for reading!!!!

thanks for the welcome fzr dude!

yes furryfrog it has a fuel pump but the tank is covering it...

is it a 3ln? from looking at pics in this site and reading too i understand its a 3ln bcuz of the aluminum frame, and 2kr metal frame..

i had it running a couple days ago but it only idles...
now it wont start.. and backfires when your trying to start it..

i think the carbs are flooded...

my wish is to get it runnung and drive cross country to prove
my friends wrong... they think ill never get it running... lol..

thanks guys!! i am going to keep it!

sounds like you have a massive air leak, look for exposed or loose pipes or hoses in and around the carbs. That is assuming the carbs are correctly set and balanced.

Anyway welcome! I am sure you will get her going with the help of this forum. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Welcome to the forum - The bike should rev out, even without the air filters in place. I would have to suspect a leaning out problem with the carbs, particularly the main jets being partially or fully blocked.

If it was rich, it probably burble and blow black smoke but not stall as easy.

Make sure spark plugs are in good condition too...

i would start with cleaning the carbies if its been sitting for a long time, always makes the bike feel so much better after its done.

also try drain the old fuel out of the bowls its probably stale maybe even got water in it.

Another thing to try is to just pour fuel down the barrels, start it and try to rev.

I had an R6 that was sitting outside for two years before it got into my garage. Cleand everything in the carbs and tank the best I could, but it would just burp a little while cranking but wouldn't start.

Poured fuel, it would start, run and rev for a few seconds. After a few times doing this something got unblocked and it fired up allright.

That bike skipped a few teeth on the timing chain in a few months and bent valves though. So maybe a good lesson, try to see if cam chain is tensioned correctly and everything is kosher in there, or else.

    thanks again everyone!
im really happy i found this page...
    ive taken everybodys advise..
put new plugs in, checked carbs for openings and everything...
during my inspection found my pump has gone bad..
so tomorow im buying a new pump!!

i took it apart and played with it but its all rotted inside
so the best deal is to trash it...

i still got a long ways to go but thanks to you guys its going alot better!!!
