Going from a 55 tooth rear to a 44 tooth rear will result in slower acceleration and in theory more top speed; BUT given the FZR250 can't hit top speed with it's current gear ratio due to not enough power, there's very little point attempting to get more top end speed through gearing. Your far better off going to a 58 tooth rear sprocket and sacrificing a small amount of top end speed for better acceleration.

point well taken koma, thanks for the info although i have manage to change it yesterday just for the heck of it and test run it immediately there after. It ran 175 kph at 11500 rpm and has more on the throttle but i stop squeezing more from it coz it scares the heck out of me......i had a little prob wid the accelaration coz of the change maybe ill cut down my weight to compensate

That's a pretty decent speed run!
Was that indicated or GPS? I'll assume indicated so take off a couple for over-reading. Still a very healthy FZR250 you've got there. My old 3LN3 would top out at ~180km/h on GPS (about 190km/h indicated).

I do agree with you that at those speeds the poor little bikes can get a little jittery. Wait till you get the opportunity to do a high speed run on a large capacity bike and you'll pass someone doing 200km/h like their standing still!

Not that i'm giving details but GPS recorded at 294km/h with 299km/h indicated is still my record; and in all honesty it'll probably stay my record.
(No this was NOT on a 250cc bike...)

thanks for the info about using the GPS ill try using one someday....but i doubt if i have the guts going over 180 kph...our highway here is not really that forgiving if you make small mistakes....and moreso im not just cut out for that speed...

299 damn thats fast....

ride safe bro!
