Stick your head down underneath the bike and look for where the 4 header pipes come out of the engine and join into the collector box. If you can see two cables going to the left hand side of the collector box then your looking at an EXUP valve, otherwise its a non-EXUP. All of the 3LN's had EXUP, only the early 2KR's didn't.
But Dave, if your gonna start up the bike dont you hear a fizzing sound from the butterflyvalve opening en closing? I know that my other 2-stroke bike's with YPVS did the same, or does EXUP works diff?
Yes they do make a bit of a whirring noise when you turn on the ignition. They do a cycle fully open then close again. If you happen to hit the start as soon as you turn on the ignition there is a loud burst of exhaust noise during this period, particularly if you have an aftermarket pipe. When I bought my bike I did not even know about exup, and the salesman said the whirring noise was the fuel pump. A few days later I found FZR250.COM
