Riding the bandit home from a club meeting tonight on a pitch black rd no street lights and as i was approaching a bend the light went off and the bike died. Checked fuses and my main fuse blew. I replaced it and the new one blew instantly.
Ill be looking at it tmoz.
Anyone know were to start or of a common fault with these bikes.
Any info will be greatly appreciated

I'd be checking where the wires move the most (handlebar switches and the wiring from headlights/indicators back to main body)
They have probably chaffed off the outer layer of vinyl/plastic around the wires and a positive wire is now rubbing on the frame somewhere.

Found the problem. The short was the starter plug thingy that burnt out

Good that you found, but now you need to ask yourself what caused the starter plug to burn out and find the cause.

Maybe the metal connectors were loose or rusting up causing increased resistance?
