    Hello,

Been a while since my last post.(the project bike was finished and the owner crashed it a week later . Just to update from my previous post)

My problem, for my 1998 baby.

The other night after a ride, pulled up for a quick stop. Turned bike off, 5mins later went to leave and the bike wouldn't turn on. No lights, no starter sound. Nothing. Dead

I have tested the battery, that has power, tested the reg rec, that seems to be working fine.
Tested the starter relay.. That had died, got a new second hand working one.

Problem not solved. The bike still has no power.

Need help. Suggestions on what to look at next.

    Check all fuses aren't blown?

Your neutral light & red-engine light won't even turn on when you turn the key around?

Charge battery for the heck of it?
    Battery terminals are tight?
You'll have to follow all the cables as there's probably a connector which has come apart or is loose and not completing a connection as you should at least have lights working.

If u are getting nothing at all then the battery has to be totally dead or there is a loose/ broken wire or connector .... or disconnected/dirty plug (in the wiring) as mentioned

Follow your main earth cable from the battery to check its still grounded properly and tight

Clean the main battery cable terminals and the battery terminals need to be shiny metal also

At this point you are going to need to start being very systematic about diagnosing exactly where the problem is.

You will need a multi meter and the across circuit diagram.

Then test stator to pig tail, then pig tail to regulator, regulator to battery etc etc ticking off what has continuity or reads correct ohms etc.

On the mc22 I believe the stators "ground" is the flywheel, if your flywheel is loose then your stator won't be grounded.
Your reg/reg if grounded only by being bolted to metal make sure it isn't painted metal it's connecting too or power coated etc.

Thing is it isn't the most complicated thing.

    Stator -> reg -> battery

If stator, reg and battery are all new replaced in spec ect then it will either be a broken wire in the loom or a short and or a grounding issue.

    Awesome

Thank you for all the advice, have put the battery on charge (feeling silly if that's all it is, due to it doesn't really explain why it died so suddenly )

Will go back over all the lines.

    Report back soon.
