It's 40° C here today under the back verandah and same forecast for tomorrow before it drop's back to high 20's next week, so you'll have a couple more day's of heat to come

I took the FZR out for a ride this morning, it's nice while you're moving but you don't take long to start sweating and getting hot waiting at the traffic light's
Might go for another ride up through the hill's soon, it's a couple of degree's cooler up there and there's a bit of shade under the big gumtree's as well.

Pulled the ZXRs sealed headlights apart today, was tired of looking at a dusty lense, it cleaned up really well. Seems like it will all squeeze back together ok too with the clips & sticky goo they use, if not I will clean it all out & re-glue it with a similar product. 20170106_113511.jpg I was also thinking of putting a daytime running led angel eye 5 or 10w in there somewhere with a seperate switch, because now i have a voltmeter i have really noticed my headlight mod,H4 55/60w 6000k globes chewing the battery when in town, I have a near extinct switch block with a lightswitch still intact so i can leave the mains off and have the angel eye on during daylight. 20170106_113058-1.jpg 20170106_135111.jpg A 40mm angel eye would fit nicely at the globe base but i would be worried about its heat durability so close to the globe mmmm, At 10$ a pair i might give it a go or even look at a hid/led conversion kit that might fit, any thoughts ???

I wouldn't fit them anywhere near the bulb due to heat.
Would something like this fit around the outer edge of the reflector's ?

    or this style

You can get the flexible one's too in a lot of different length's
    45cm-

How many amp's are your headlight's drawing ?

I'm thinking about trying some of these led H4s''s out, a 90w led would be pretty bright and draw about 1/4 of the power the Halogen's draw

I thought i had better look into the temp gauge not working properly in the FZR
Pulled the tank off, disconnected every plug/socket and smeared them all with dielectric grease again.
I re-routed the wiring to run around the front of the radiator filler hose now instead of behiond the hose toward's the carby's, it's possibly the original way it was run from the factory ?
Plugged everything back in, and now when the ignition is on the temp gauge needle move's from cold to the first line up, hopefully it's working properly otherwise i need to fit my digital temp gauge till i suss out what's wrong
Pity there isn't another blank threaded hole i could screw the other temp sender into

Oh, and it's almost hit 42° C under the verandah now !

Have literally looked at 100s of those daytime running lights today, still none the wiser, the outer reflector circumference is about 120mm but is compromised by the housing. My lights from memory were drawing about 11amps & about 12 on high beam. Do you need a special reflector housing for those hid lights your considering.

Those globe's are drawing a little too much current.
55W x2 should pull about 9 amp's max if the battery is only at 12.6v (amp's should be lower if voltage float's around 14v when running), maybe check all the connection's are good/clean.
The charging circuit in your bike should be putting out around 35+ amp's back into your battery with everything on and running, so should be ok

Nah they are just H4 led replacement's, so are a direct fit into standard housing's, they're not hid but put out a similar shade of light.

On the temp gauge I have a spare or two if you need a replacement @my67xr. When mine wasn't working I just swapped it out for another that did work, should really have a look at the one that didn't sometime....

I have a LED bulb in one of my bikes, the one with the little fan on the end. Draws a lot less amps than a halogen bulb and is very white. It makes the parker bulb look yellow beside it.

Haven't touched the bike, but I've been down in Sydney and landed the apprenticeship at Procycles St Peters :neo:

4 years with training and employment guaranteed is a good thing for me... its a big commitment but I will stick with it and see it through to the end.
