bmw r65 now on historic plates. interesting to ride-plenty of low down torque and pulls like a d9 caterpiller. braking is a bit slow so will check front pads soon. rear brake is difficult to reach.since cleaning the idle jets starts easy.has upright riding position that i like.
Helped a mate get a 95 Zx9 going. He picked it up for free from another mate who doesn't ride anymore. Its a bit rough and had not run for 6 years, but got it to fire...just got to do some fine tuning. Also did a few little jobs on the van in preparation for a trip to the track.
Got out early and started on fitting the new steering head bearings and new Pirelli scorpian tyre to my NX650. Found out why my speedo stopped working last time out. Had to go across town to Honda shop to get a new one and was too hot for all the gear, so went in my car (with the air con on full). Back together, job done.
I washed her, and have been looking for a cheap VTR 250 and I don't care what condition, preferably the single gauged "speedo only" model
Did a 29-hour turn-around trip to Brisbane to pick up 2 bikes I can neither afford nor really need. Oh well, you live and you.... I clearly haven't gotten the second part of that expression. Had an offer for a swap, but it sounded like gaining another project; turns out I have about 8 bikes and a car to do. That's 12 too many.
I had not ridden since before the american thanksgiving. Had a crappy day at work yesterday, so decided to flog the MC22! I pushed it out of the garage, fired it up, closed garage, proceeded to gear up and lock up the house. About the time I killed the engine to stash * under the seat, an incoming text message distracts me. I read it, lock the screen, throw the phone under the seat, close the seat. I go to pull the key from the tail and it's not there, nor in the ignition. The key was in the same hand as the cellphone. ARGH! The only redeeming thing here is that I'm still at home. I can get into my truck, but had just put the tool kit I carry in the garage to work on another bike...so absolutely no help there. Fortunately my neighbors have allen drivers and phillips screw drivers! By the time I get everything put back together, it's dark:30.
Those are the days that really get to you. Sometimes I'm grateful that I didn't get to ride on these days, because I might just do something stupid - I must have something stupid once before, and that is what feel OK about not riding. I just don't remember what it was...
Penrite Yamaha TDR250 is almost ready to race. New Jolly Moto pipes and a 2XT engine fitted. Looking forward to a Champions Ride Day and a PCRA race meeting in the next few weeks.
Finished applying wrap to fairings, Satin metallic green and 5D carbon fibre. what a job! Never again.
Done really well wrapping that around the fairings Must get myself another tyre pen too when i get new rubber
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142085430787 Got some halogen led replacements as mentioned by @my67xr & there nice & bright & chew a lot less battery at idle I still have the bulb flash as i write this, the locking clip works on the new bulbs as they should and the waterproof boots need some re-designing to fit over the back of the globe to stop some light leaks, I will have to try them out tomorrow night though now.
Doesn't that finned heat sink come off the back of the led ? Did the the new Led light's come with an allen key? undo it and they'll either slide off or unscrew I've heard it can be a little awkward to do them up again after sliding the headlight sealing boot on. And yeah, 18000 Lumen is very bright, don't look directly at them if you can help it. A stock H4 Halogen bulb put's out around 1000 Lumen, and HID's around 3000 Lumen If you get pulled over and told they're too bright, they aren't, they are only 45W each
i am using 20$ ones that have 2 leds. 20 watt on low and 40 watt on high. leds put out more light and i am happy. no ,they are chinese from banggood and cost 18.96 $. by my calculation multiply by 7 to get incandescent rating.
I think its fair to say I might have found why the Across didn't like to rev.... More pics in the Project thread later on.... when is my Ultrasonic cleaner getting here????
