There was a fuel docket in the glovebox for 10 litres of 98 but no idea if that actually went in the bike or not. I know the fuel that was in it was rank...
Parts arrived, so I put a new battery in Sylvie, put Jack's battery back where it belongs and replaced the temporary screws holding Sylvie's left side panel on with OEM ones. Will tackle replacing the meter housing on the weekend when I have a little more daylight!
My Across carbies were gunked up with blacky-brownish sludge, every jet was sealed. The fuel was rank, the previous owner said it was in storage for 4 years, I believe, and fuel was brown. As for finding the docket for 98, that mightn't have been the last fuel used, and not all 98/premiums are equal: I bought a 100RON fuel and found out later it contained ethonal. They should ban cheap fuel use in motorbikes....
I am sure I will find more nasty little surprises as I clean out the bodies... carby bodies... just so that is clear...lol I will be putting green back into the carbies .... courtesy of litetek seal kit
Yes the heat sink will slide down the cord but not over the plug, they go back together no problem, the boots wont stretch over the heat sink or lower bulb though so a little modification was needed to the boot,& surprisingly no allen key came in the box.
I started cleaning out the shed so I could store the bikes better and make better use of the shed - 3 bays, 4.5m wide, 5-6m deep and we're out of room. The plan is pallet frames and store the quads on the floor, the bikes up a level. But where to put the raised work benches? And the golf buggy... not mine. It's going to take a while, day one didn't get far.
For 200$ its still a bargain whether those motors are running or not, I wish a few of those popped up closer to home.
Realised the chain was over-slack the other day so fitted mini-spools, scored a paddock stand from the beer economy page, washed and chamoised the bike, cleaned all the rubbers, adjusted, cleaned and lubricated the chain. I know it's trivial but the adjustment was a new thing for me and, having ridden it now, I understand why I should pay more attention to it. Mind you, it's coming up to time for a new chain and sprocket anyway
Sold the GSXR. Bloke is coming to get it Wednesday. Sad to see it go but I didn't find it comfortable enough and the steering feels heavy and slow against the R6 and even the mighty FZR's. Now have to think about a good commuter for Sydney... Back to square one with a ninja 250? Maybe a VTR? Something else? Probably whatever's cheaper.
Congrats on the sale There are a few nice VTR's in and around Sydney for reasonable money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My Gixxer, when I got it, basically wanted to fall over in low speed turns, I ended up putting two washers on top of the top shock mount and lowering the forks 10mm. It wasn't because I wanted that look of tail in the air, but WOW did it make a difference, felt lighter than the Fizzer after that and rode like a pushbike But it's all moot no as neither of us have Gixxers - sob
GS500F http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hallsville/motorcycles/2009-suzuki-gs500f/1134746309 Done lot's of km's, Honda 600 F2 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/moree/motorcycles/motorbike/1121534377
What about a gsx250f? They seem pretty durable, cheap to buy, and the big selling point, I think, is storage! On a motorbike, storage big enough to fit something!!
Not my bike, but i've just finished assembling a new pit bike 201cc bottom end/gearbox for a mate's competition pit bike. It started off as a brand new YX160, 57mm stroke 60mm bore, i had the case's bored to suit the new TB 67mm bore cylinder. It will go hard now i'm sure
