Well, after 13 years working in the electricity industry, my run has come to an end, in mid December I received the news that my role is no longer needed. My company is going through a restructure and I have accepted a VR. This isn't all doom and gloom, in fact its an opportunity !!!

@Phil and I have decided to open a motorcycle wreckers here in Brisbane. I finish up in March so we have about 10 weeks to get our **** together. I knew this was coming and had set plans in motion for this dream many months ago, this was the primary reason why @GreyImport is the new sheriff around here, I knew that I couldn't put the effort into both so something had to give.

Today I took another step towards that goal by I successfully passing my Motor Vehicle Sales Licence and my Motor Vehicle Dealer Licence tests. I am now qualified (on paper) to run a Car \ Bike dealership, alas the same cert is required to operate a wrecking business.

One of the things that Phil and I want to do was be better than the opposition so we are thinking of buying a wet blasting machine, this way we can clean parts and make them look new. Phil and I had a play with one on Saturday and are most impressed with it.

The next steps are to register a company and a trust then we can crack on with getting our insurances etc. I'm also looking to buy a commercial property to operate from, and have found a really good sized one in Tingalpa, I'm working though the commercials now and will hopefully make an offer this week or next.

The goal is to be open in mid April, 10 weeks of work left, then 2 weeks to get everything in order and get the doors open. Hopefully some of you can help me source some bikes in south east Queensland.

    Chris

Hope all goes well with the new business for yourself and Phil. With the assistance of our fellow 250cc forum members we should be able to promote and supply your new business with customers. I'll be one of them as no doubt i'll be looking for parts for the SRX . Maybe some T shirts can be printed with the new business name so we can advertise for you, just a thought for the future when things start to move.

I seem to recall having seen/heard/read that importing was going to become much simpler

Containers full of exotica from Japan perhaps?

That is very cool news Chris and Phil. Surrounded by bikes and bike parts each and everyday, sounds pretty good to me!
Super envious of the tool kit as well. OMG! No more random trips to Supercheap or other places for the odd tool. Its all here.
You guys will be extremely successful for sure. I guess the tool kit will also be a claim as a tax deduction?? Yes!!!!
