What fuel for SRX 250.

Tags:
  • G'day All, Following my "rave" about how nice the exhaust note on my SRX250 was, I now have a problem and need some help. Once the bike has been ridden a fairly fast for a while (and obviously gets a bit hotter) it starts to spit back thru the carb, and will stop running altogether. Waiting 20 or 30 seconds and it will start again, but after 100 metres it does the same spitting thru the carb.
Sounds to me like a lean mixture? Putting the choke does not seem to make much difference when it has stopped.
The exhaust does not use the standard silencer box (catalytic converter?) under the engine, but has a straight thru to the muffler (and I am not sure much muffling is done!).
So what grade of Fuel is best for SRX (I normally use 91 octane) also would the straight thru tend to lean out the mixture?

I have a standard SRX exhaust (less silencer) off another SRX and wonder if swapping this over might make cure the problem?
    Help appreciated. Arthur
