So there are no battery wires, NONE? Only a fuse. No wire have been cut. Weird right?

I have never seen it stamped as a Y23 before so we all learn something.
As above the fuse wire will go to the + terminal of the battery, an earth - will go from the battery to the frame or engine case. Follow the red wires from the voltage regulator (these bikes had a generator system which put out DC voltage, hence the regulator but no rectifier), they should go to the battery for charging. There may also be a large red wire going to the right side crankcase. This will be for the electric start power if your bike has this.
Check some bulbs to see what voltage the bike is (6 or 12 volt) before buying a battery.

What is the bore diameter ? This will tell you as the stroke is the same on both engines.

Pistons are between 56mm-57mm in diameter. They say 56 25 so I'm guessing that's 56.25mm

Rings say IN 25 on all 4 of them

I have been reading on ebay that the 56.25mm is 1st over bore(.25mm) but that surprises me since the bike has low miles

How do they measure up compared to the bore?

Just gave them to my guy to glass bead them and hone them out. Just need to make sure I'm ordering the correct rings. I think 56.25mm is a 1st size over STD bore

That would be a first oversize. What you need to know is what the difference between the piston diameter and the bore diameter is to check the clearance.
I think from memory that the DS3 had the oil pump drive off the clutch, and sitting at the lights with the clutch held in would have no oil going into engine. This maybe why it has oversize pistons at low miles.

Piston size is 56.25mm and they slide in nice and smooth and tight. No wiggle. The sleeves are thin at the bottom and I don't think it can be bored again

I think I'm gonna clean them up, order a set of 1st over and gasket set, than check what the compression is. This isn't my dependable reliable bike, this is just something to smoke people out at the bike shows.

Can any of you guys help me with this? The old rings wiggle and fit on my piston fine, so I ordered a set off ebay yds3 ( guy sent me yds5e) said they would work, and sent me another set (yds3m) both of these look different from my old warn rings. 2 top rings have the silver edge and lowers are just solid black. Yet my old rings had the silver chrome edge on all 4. Also both of these sets won't wiggle or move once on, they get jammed in the piston slot. IS THIS NORMAL? yes my piston is .25 over bore and all these rings are to.

Measure the diameter of the piston and the new 0.25 oversize ring set.

Silver edge rings are chrome and belong at the top of the piston. If there is a manufacture mark (yamaha, ahl, any writing) they face up towards the valves.

linkin, 2 strokes have no valves. facing up is correct. are the ring grooves clean?????????????????????????

top 2 rings have a chrome face and take most wear.i believe yds5 and yds3 are the same.

The chrome edge rings go to the top, the cast rings below. Measure the end gaps of the rings by putting them in the bottom unworn part of the bore. End gaps should be .003 to .006". The side clearance in the ring groove should only be about .002". The rings must face the correct way to line up with the pin in the ring groove. This is to stop the rings turning around the piston and catching in the ports.

My old rings all had the chrome faces. As for these new rings. No matter what I do, I can not get them to seat into the groves on the Pistons
